Works well. I tested it by boiling water in a kettle together with a router and some other small appliances. A watt meter was used to measure the power draw. Everything was connected to an inverter. The circuit breaker was installed between the inverter and two 12.7 volt batteries connected in parallel. The power draw was measured to be 1650 watts. The battery voltage immediately dropped to 11.5v when the kettle was turned on. That is a current draw of about 143 amps from the battery. Which is about 120% of the circuit breaker's rating. It took 5 minutes for it to trip. That is close to what the chart on the box specify. So it does what it is supposed to do. Did not test whether it is water proof ... show more

The red one was my first purchase and kept tripping at 150a by the time I had it installed and noticed I was past the return window. This yellow one is so much better quality in every single way! This is a very nice compact circuit breaker for 250 amps. I was impressed with the large studs for attachment of the cables, since 250A should have at least 2/0 or 3/0 cable. All of the other circuit breakers I looked at had much smaller studs on the order of 1/4 inch. I wanted the style that had the studs at the bottom of the circuit breaker because of the layout of my electrical work. It's important to note that the mounting screw between the studs requires a slight notch out of the terminal in order to fit. If you are looking for a “fuse” or breaker, this is THE one that you want. I have looked at every available option in a car audio installation, and these breakers work so much better than an inline fuse. First, if the fuse blows, no need to have to get another one. The breaker is just tripped. Also, and more importantly, it gives the ability to “switch” off the power, or open the connection. Makes it easy to work on components by flipping the switch, then turning back on by just clipping it back in. Easy. For those that bought the 250 amp like I did, that one doesn’t come with a switch. But get one that has an onboard switch that makes it easy to open the connection. Is a lifesaver. Also, best point about THIS one over any other one is the 3/8” lug connection. Way beefier and more contact surface to flow the energy across to what you need. Everything else is 1/4” or 5/16”, so this is the king of connection at 3/8”. Stop looking around.
