Great T handle tools, work great!

Like others have stated, the knurling on these is useless, arguably worse than useless. You'll need a set of pliers or something to really grip the handle to actually use these. These work GREAT with taps, square ones can sit in the jaw so the corners fit between the jaws, and it doesn't need to be tightened that much to effectively stop the tap from spinning. You have to tighten it a bit more to work well with round drill bits, but it can work. I kind of appreciate it not having extreme grip on round bits, as it acts as a bit of a clutch, which is nice for drilling into soft materials. The price is pretty good, but I mostly use the smaller of the two for m2.5-m6 taps.

Well these are inexpensive and you get what you pay for. The Good is there are three sizes for the price and they do hold taps which is what they are intended for. The Bad is the machining is poor becasue they probably crank out untold thousands of these per day, but the poor workmanship makes for very difficult tightening especially when you need to close them to the smallest diameter. The poor machining makes it very difficult to untighten. There are a lot of metal spurs and rough surfaces due to the cheap price. The chuck is poorly designed in that there are two "rings" of knurling which you must have to grip them. But the rings of knurling are indented so it makes them practically useless for gripping. The knurling needs to cover the entire surface of the chuck - not just two rings indented. The Ugly? It took me about an hour of my own time to work the metal and finishing such that they would work as well as possible. Buyer beware ...

As a former journeyman machinist, I can compare these to high-end tap wrenches like Starret. For the cost, these work fine but I did a modification to make these better. The steel is somewhat hardened at the jaws, albeit not the hardness you see in professional grade taps. The threads are a little rough, so put some heavy oil or grease on them and over time they will smooth out. I felt that the torque needed to tighten the jaws onto the tap was more than I liked, so I used a dremel tool and increased the length of the slots, which helps. The handle is comfortable, and the shaft has a spring load on it, providing a detent to hold the handle in place, that's a nice touch. You can also add some grip tape on the knurled cap to increase the diameter and make tightening easier. But overall is a good set and the value is hard to beat.

As another mechanically minded reviewer pointed out, the tap wrenches work as intended, but can be refined easily. I removed the nut and used a triangle file to lightly deburr the threads where the body is slit in 3 places to form the jaws. I deburred the slit and then deburred the threads at the slit. 5 minutes per wrench and they work very smoothly. And eliminates the need for extra torque to tighten the tap in the jaws.

Part defective , design bad, or description wrong. On arrival it would not grab anything as tines bent outward. After a little bending it could be made to work but still the smallest T handle will not grab 1/16 inch parts (1.57mm) as description claims. Smallest it will grab is around 7/64ths. Smallest one is totally useless. The two larger ones work but the screw action is very rough.
