Our old latches keeping the doors shut on our sundancer pontoon boat we’re broken and swinging open at will. Bought these as a replacement and they work great. You need 3 holes to install these and was able to work off the large center hole from the old door latch which saved some time. You’ll need drill bits to get through the aluminum or whatever material you have. A smaller one for a pilot hole, then a half inch bit for the final size. Install was fairly simple and it has a snug fit. We have 1 and a half inch tubing so the latch doesn’t go all the way around the edge, but still does it’s job of keeping the door closed. ... show more

I replaced three tricky original latches on our pontoon boat with these which are very easy to operate and install. Other reviewers have complained about the weak, triangular stop, and I agree that it looks flimsy. So I added a metal stop along the doorway bottom keeping the door from swinging outward. The latch seems sturdy enough and works easily from inside or out. You may have to drill two new holes in your aluminum railing, but it's easy and I was able to cover my old holes with the new latch. It also latches tightly (you can adjust the force) so there is no door play or banging. We'll see how long the plastic lasts over the winters, but these are cheap enough to replace every few years if necessary. ... show more

This is a heavy duty Latch. Easy to install. A woman can do it, I did. Easy to open and lock. I don't hear the banging of the door anymore. Perfect bolt on for my pontoon boat. Nice color to match the others ones on the pontoon. No problem at all with it.
