  • Perfect for our indoor vegetable growing
Used these on our indoor hydroponic peppers and brassicas, and they worked amazingly well. They do throw off enough residual heat to warm a roughly 10' x 14' room (we have two of them running), but nowhere near the heat generated by our similarly light output rated Mars units' remote ballasts. The later get so hot that I had to resort to relocating them outside of the room to an air conditioned space with a dedicated fan blowing over them. These on the other hand were a pretty perfect blend of good light dispersion with acceptably modest heat, but the plants loved them. Nothing ever got hot enough to trip the sensors, and it was nice to be able to link them together, so I'll be getting more as groceries continue to climb. Energy consumption wise I haven't run them next to the Mars fixtures on a Watt meter, but the Mars lights heat output tells me that they suffer on the energy efficiency front. The Mars units do have an adjustable output, which is very nice, but these worked just fine as they are, so as a value solution I would highly recommend them. The Mars lights, not so much, mainly 'cuz of that heat. Maybe in a below grade basement grow tent, but we're not growing weed, just produce, ... show more

  • Great light. Timer functions and temp are nice on the display.
I got the PT-5000. It's about 490 watts actual draw. 9 bars of LED's. The time and temp settings on the digital display are easy to see and use. It turns on when I want, and Off when I want. I haven't had it through summer yet, so I don't know about the heat temp settings. Hopefully my stuff won't get that hot. I put the wires on the wrong ends at first. and it was out of balance. I also got 2 x 4" USB fans and put them ontop of the lights, so I got some airflow through the light. It helps keep a breeze on my canopy. This was a decent value for some Samsung 281b diodes, and a 500w size. I have 4 plants under it, and another 5 around it. You need to be about 15" away from the light for good sized flowers. UPDATE: 6 months later, Light is GREAT. UV & IR light Diodes on this one. Most lights don't have the UV, and it really really helps THC/CBD production. ... show more

  • Best value full spectrum Grow Light available. This one is a sleeper, get em while they last.
Best value FS 500Watt GL available anywhere. No dimmer, but runs 11, 9, or 6 panels to achieve a lower output that are set manually, or controlled by the temp. function. It's easy to set up. Cool & quiet & bright; each bar has its own supply and are switched on by the controller. No UL, CSA just worthless CE mark. Failures I read about -detachable cord burning , panels dying. This would probably pass safety testing except for cord. Indoor use only. This is constructed with 1 watt LEDs running at 0.45 watt each so the diodes are not stressed, Each light bar is approximately 44 watts so it toggles between 260, 400, and 490 watts.. Plants are doing extremely well. I had to raise the light from 2ft to 4ft because they were TOO bright. Why spend 0.90-1.80 per watt on a name brand (SF Mars, Vivosun, AC Infinity etc)? Get this for $0.36 per watt. ... show more

  • Inaccurate ppfd
Decent light. Flowers look good. Only issue I have is at 6in from tops of my flowers it hits 850 ppfd which isn't terrible and heat isn't bad but a far cry from the 1950 at 12. I've tried it on all settings and flowers look good but wish I had that extra ppfd to push my dli higherm

  • Szhlux PT5000 500 watts: Worst Grow Light I Have Ever Had
This is the worst grow light I have ever purchased. I have had many. I bought this one because I was taking a chance, because you cannot beat 500 watts at $200. I usually buy Spider Farmer, and I will will never buy another again from Szhluz. First, growers like to have control over the light. You have no control over dimming or turning lights off and on unless you set the temperature controls, and even then you can only turn off two of 11 lights. The literature that came with the product describes two products: PT5000 and PT8000. This is the real problem I have: I have only been running it a week and 2 of the light bars are out and the temperature control light won't come on either. The 2 light bars are completely out. The lights actually work fine, becuase I switch them with other that were working and they work. The just don't work. It is an internal problem on the board, the electronics. After it reaches a certain temperature these 2 light bars are supposed to go out, but that is not the problem. The just don't work period, and I have only been using it for a week. Now, my crop and I am going to lose thousands because of this. Also, when looking at the product on Amazon, it looks like it come with a seperate control box. The control box is not seperate but part of the light. It is a window with a few small push buttons. That is false advertising: it looks like you are going to get a seperate box to control the light. That is not the case. Also, again, you have no control over dimming: Any Light Bar that is on is on full blast no adjusting. Spider Farmer is the best lights I have ever used. I will not change again because of a seemingly discount price. And, again, the literature that comes with product is incorrect: It says that if you set the temperature at 85 degree it is on automatic; if it is set on 86 degrees, only 9 light will come on out of 11. Well, that is incorrect: If you set it at 86 degrees nothing happens. If you set it at 87 degrees, all 11 lights come on when it was working. I really don't know how long the 2 lights have been out in the last week. It was working just fine until I discovered yesterday that 2 lights were not working. I thought it had to do with the temperature control turning lights on and off because of reaching a certain temp. That is not the case; They are dead in those locations. It also says that at 96 degrees only six lights will come on. Again, all lights remained on at that temperature whether set or actually getting that hot. The little red light that lets you know that Temperature Control is in use is out and won't come on. Actually, if you unplug it, and plug it back in the red light does come and goes off. There is an internal problem with board that is running all the lights. Do not buy their products. I have never in all my years used such a light that has know idea what a grower wants. They want control. This product gives you no control over light output. It only lets you set timers, and temperature controls if working properly. Even though I recommend Spider Farmer as the best lights I have used with huge harvests, quick, they have changed over to this LED Bar Model. Because Szhlux is the only time that I have used the bar model, I am reluctant to purchase any grow light that is like this. Spider Farmer used to use the Board model, and that was the best. The diodes do not have any plastic covering. With plastic covering, you are losing some of the light because the plastice is reflecting some of the light away from your crop. And you must purchase at the bare minimum in wattage a 250 watt light. Just because it is advertising a specifice wattage, say 1000 watts, if you look at the specifications down at the bottom you will see the real wattage which is probably 200 watts even though they advertised 1000 watts. If its too cheap, you are not going to be happy. I have been doing great with 650 actual watts and the yields are 800 grams indoors. You must use a 5 gallon pot if you want larger yields. That is why planting outdoors usually give you larger yields if planted in the ground. If you are planted in a 2 or 3 gallon pot your yields are going to lower. The roots want to spread and be happy and live. But when restricted, yield is restricted. You want to grow right, you much control light, ph, etc. You must learn the science of what your crop loves and doesn't. It doesn't matter if you are growing tomatos to you know. Szhlux has done a poor job. You will also notice in the construction that different size screws where used to assemble the product. That is just poor. Yeah, it may be cheap, but you are taking a chance. I hope I am just the one-off. The one customer that got a poor light. But I learned a valuable lesson about grow lights. If you are using the Bar method and you can remove the plastic that covers the diodes, do it, remove them. You will get more light. And get a light meter, ph meter, etc. Nutrients: Fox Farm has good nutrients and they have good guides on how to use them, as well as how much light to use, parts per million, etc. Their guides just don't give how much nutrients to use, and on their charts, you don't have to use all the products. There are usually around 3 products and calcium at blooming that work just fine and they will be in the same color on their chart. They have different charts for different soils and hydroponics. They won't allow me to give no Stars, so I have been strong-armed to give One Star if I want you all to know the truth. ... show more
