I love the colorful display but I think most people, me included, underestimate the brightness. Maybe it's my white walls but it illuminates my bedroom when otherwise there would be total darkness. The instructions are lacking so I'll share the answers I received. To dim the numbers display, press but don't hold the 3rd button from the left (+). It will cycle through 4 brightness levels then turn off. Pressing again restarts it at its brightest level. It says the default is a 12 hour cycle but mine came in the 24 hours cycle. To get it to 12 hours and to show am/pm, press but don't hold the 1st button on the left (set). There is a button on the back that adjusts the brightness / color of the base light which can be turned off if not wanted. I haven't used the alarm, I prefer my phone for that and I have not tried the phone charge USB option on the clock. It would be a perfect clock for a child's nightlight or for anyone who wants to sleep in a room with some light on. I just turn it away from me when sleeping and use the light that shows up on my ceiling. That, to me, is one of the best features. I wish the projection was a full 360 degress, in some positions the light on the wall/ceiling is reversed and that can be an issue. I've only had it a week but the time is accurate and doesn't need adjusting after being set. Overall I love the colors of the light and would recommend it. Just remember, it is very, very bright and at its dimmest level it is still bright for a bedroom. ... show more

I'm a rainbow-holic, so I had to get this. Being an atomic clock fan, it was unusual for me to buy a manual one. This beautiful clock is so easy to set! I really love it & the modern, cheerful look in my bedroom. To set the AM/PM function, hold the SET button until AM comes on, then simply hit -/+ & it automatically turns to PM as you set the time. I bought a weather station which is 99% terrific, but the time is so small, I had to get this projection clock. Buy this! Kids will love it too. ... show more

Nice basic clock. Large dial display with time only and nice color options. YES THERE ARE INSTRUCTIONS. A previous customer might have gotten a re-pack without the book. Set up was also very easy. No focus or orientation ability for the ceiling display but if the clock is facing you, the ceiling orientation is correct. Ceiling projector is basic red. It is not changeable in brightness or color like the face. Description is not clear about that point. I was hoping for some color and brightness options as I have some outside light bleed on my ceiling, which sometimes obscures the ceiling display at night. It is clear and readable and seems to stay in focus. The ceiling display is not really different from my previous clock. There are a few other options which I have not explored but the clock seems serviceable. I like the color options on the large readable face but wanted more from the ceiling display There is a back-up battery in the back and you must pull the plastic tap to activate it. Very nice alarm clock so far. The battery backup came into play within a couple of days of purchase and when power was restored about 9 hours later, the clock came back on with the correct time. That was a convenient feature. Setup was simple. I think it was OK to have paid a little more to get the nice colors of the night light which also provides sufficient light to move around in the middle of the night. The clock display numbers also have pleasing colors. The time projection is a nice feature to have. Most importantly the clock passed the "my wife likes it" test. Next test is longevity . . . we shall see. ... show more

Functional overall. Looks great, and is very bright. On the other hand, it only works when plugged in (despite the fact that it came with a battery installed) and only has 1 alarm. The projection feature is weak at best, and the clock itself feels very cheap upon handling.
