I had a need for a charger for my Insta360 X4 batteries and decided on this product. It feels sturdy and well made and the display is informative and easy to read. I like being able to charge both batteries at once with a unit that doubles as a carrying case. The charger works well using an AC adapter in the wall or using a battery pack. I used various adapters from both sources going USB C to USB C and USB A to USB C and got favorable results. Using USB A I didn’t always get both batteries charging at the same time though I believe that to be the fault of the source and not the charger itself. The charger is a touch bulky but considering the batteries aren’t exactly petite, there is really nothing to complain about. The lid keeps the batteries covered and the magnetic closure keeps everything in place. USB C connectivity to the charger is a definite plus. All in all I’m very pleased with this purchase.

In addition to providing a visual indication of charge, this device can serve as a backup battery to charge your phones or other devices in a pinch. Takes up less space than the OEM charger brick. Nice design protects the batteries in your bag without having to keep them in separate cases. Only downside - if it matters to you - is there is no slot for a spare memory card in the lid like there is on the plastic OEM cases.

I am comparing this charging case/ power bank to the Insta360 X4 Fast Charge Hub. I am a mobile adventurer where I need my equipment to be cost effective, durable and easy to operate. The following are pros and cons after using this. Pros: 1. This device is 28% less expensive than the Insta360 device. 2. It is a COVERED case, which keeps dirt and water out of the battery bays. The Insta360 hub is open to the elements. 3. It has a great color display, showing a multitude of details about the charging, levels, percentages, etc. The Insta360 hub only has colored blinking lights. 4. This device is also a power bank that can be used to charge a smartphone, or other USB-C charged device. The Insta360 hub is not. 5. The case’s cover is secured by magnets. In the case cover is a storage area for two micro SD cards. 6. The device is small and can easily fit in a jacket pocket. Cons: 1. This device can charge two batteries whereas the Insta360 hub charges three. 2. This device took just under an hour to charge two empty x4 batteries at 5w, 15 volts. The Insta360 hub claims to charge in 48 minutes, although I don’t have the hub to do side by side testing or verification. 3. This device does not come with a USB-C cable, whereas the Insta360 hub does. 4. There is a single function button. Through a series of button presses, long and short holds, you enter and display different functions. Using the detailed printed instruction sheet, it took me half an hour to become proficient in all the functions. I’m a patient person. Someone not taking their time to learn the nuances of button presses and holds will become frustrated. I purchased this charging case specifically because it had a closed lid to keep dirt and debris out of the battery bays during my dirt bike adventures. I will always pick a device that has multiple functions over one that has a single purpose. Last, I am a tech nut and love displays that show every facet of a battery level and charging operation, opposed to blinky lights where I’m left guessing. This case bests Insta360 on all counts. This case has served me well so far and I look forward to bringing it on many more adventures.
