Description

Side and base edge bevel multi tool that includes a file. This one tool is all you need to sharpen and bevel your edges. NOTE: 80 mm is the maximum length file or stone that will fit into this tool. 70- or 80-mm stones are recommended. Dial a precise side angle from 0 degree to 5 degrees and 0.5 to 1.0 degree on the base. Nine angles total. It is recommended that you set the edge bevels with the file and then replace the file with 70- or 80-mm diamond stones to maintain the sharpness; if you always use the metal file, you will wear away the edge. The blue 70-mm RaceWax stone or the yellow 80-mm Swix stone are good starters, a black RaceWax or red Swix are the next most used; add the whole set of grits if you are a racer. Bonus Benefit for this tool: If you don't know what base and side angles your ski/board are set to, this tool can help you find them. Before you start mark the metal edge with a sharpie, start the tool at the lowest angle and see if it removes the marking on your edge. Raise the angle step-wise and repeat until it removes the mark. That is your angle! Record the base/side angles for future reference. Detailed edge tuning instructions are located under Tuning Tips in the top menu. A how-to video for this tool is in production.

  • Once you figure it out, it's easy.
This works great on my skis and boards. It will take some time to figure it out though. Just go to Youtube to determine which angle you want and how to use it. I went to 86 degrees. It's confusing as the directions will say more angle for experienced riders but the degree number will decrease to get to that angle. In my mind, think of it as sharpening your pocket knife. Sharper blade = sharper ski/board edge. Base or edge - you will always slide it on the bottom of the ski/board. It comes with an 80mm rasp that will really take off material. My rocker board was at 90 and I "sharpened it up" to 86. Lots of filings of metal and fiberglass. Set it and forget it. I did not do anything with the base angle as if you mess that up, it's a big deal. You are now done with the rasp. You will want to buy a Swix 80mm yellow 400 grit stone TA400SE $25 for all finish sharpening after you set the angle. Hope this saves you some time on the learning curve. In a year, most of the directions will have been forgotten. I put notes on the holder as shown in the pics. This really helped explain the directions again. ... show more

  • Great upgrade
Works so much better than the cheap, basic tuning tools sold in “tuning starter kits”. I wasn’t sure about spending the money for the upgrade but it was definitely worth it. Fits nicely in my hand, holds the stones securely, seems to be holding up well

  • Great tool!
Really useful tool for your “amateurish”, quick tune of your skis. So easy to use. Only thing, be gentle, because the file eats up your edges pretty quickly.

  • Not up to Swix standards
Spent more for this due to the name and was disappointed. Overall construction was subpar and the functionality is so so. Ended up buying one of the other brands on here for less and much happier with the result.

  • Great for Mountainside Tuning
When sharpening a few sets of skis, this tool is all you'll need. I usually tune 2-3 times a season, and this tool is perfect. I also follow it with a 400 grit diamond file which can be inserted in place of the coarser grit file included.
