I recently purchased the SwissGear Sion Softside Expandable Roller Luggage carry on for my mom because she has been traveling alot more and it changed her life. She lives cross country from us and before we got her this piece of luggage she would have issues with changing flights or delays and worrying about lost luggage. With this she has the piece of mind of knowing that her belongs are with her this whole time. It also saved her time at the airport to have check in luggage or wait to pick it giving her more time with the family. The best part is for the price it was very good quality with expandable zipper to get her more room to pack things and still fit easily in the overhead compartments. The first thing I noticed is the color is not quite as gray as the picture makes it look it's kind of a khaki undertone a very interesting color. I bought this to replace my 24-in black Samsonite that has problems with the wheels due in part I am sure to the airlines. I travel often for business and pleasure and did not want to spend a lot of money on luggage that's being checked. I use a Hartman softside carry onor a Delsey hard carryon and Ill never check those two. I went with a soft side to check in because it offers two nice size exterior pockets which I use often when I travel. Quality appears to be good but I will update my review after I fly to Miami and we will see what the airlines do to the suitcase. Has a nice removable zipper pouch and has a long interior zipper portion and a zipper on the inside of the lid straps appear to be very easy to adjust and the handle appears to be very good quality and I like how it has handles on the top and side. Wheels appear to be good quality but we all know what the airlines do to the wheels! This is why I refuse to pay a lot of money for anything that I am checking on an airlines ... show more

    • Nice lightweight basic carry on luggage

I purchased this brand several years ago and was amazed at how durable it was after years of travel abuse. I am hoping this is as good as my old one. It has one trip to it's credit with cars, taxi's, airplanes and ferries. It barely looks like it has been used. There are two interior pockets on the suitcase and one of the interior flap that provided some organization, otherwise it is unpartitioned. The handle retracts nicely but is a little jerky, but held up through a busy trip. The wheels are good but it does not flow on the ground as smoothly as my larger much more expensive suitcase. (mainly I noticed this in elevators as it was not as easy to turn in small spaces) For the price it was fine. It endured steps, escalators and varied terrain from smooth sidewalks to rugged metal moving docks on the ferry. I purchased it in blue to stand out in baggage claim. There were a few blue suitcases but only one this color (luckily they'd tied a ribbon on so I could tell it wasn't mine) so it was set apart a bit from the typical black suitcase. I received this yesterday in advance of an upcoming trip, and it feels well constructed. I have used Swiss Gear computer bags for years and expect the quality to be similar. Materials feel solid, as expected, and the wheels roll smoothly. The bag does feel like it might be a bit tippy, especially when loaded and with an accessory bag on top, but time will tell. I'm traveling by train, so the luggage restrictions are less than air travel, and this was the largest bag that would be below the carry on size limit for Amtrak, and should be more than adequate for all my needs for a week long trip. The shell materials are well constructed, all seams are solid, and the zippers are solid. There are carry handles on pretty much all sides, which will make moving it around in the stowage areas easy. It has ample interior space, and several outside pockets. It could stand to have more compartmentalization or straps on the interior, but it's not a deal breaker. The one garment strap it does have is a bit light duty. Otherwise, not bad and it gets a +1 for the price point. I'll update the review after my trip. ... show more

1. love the color. 2. wheels spin. 3. Seems well made. I got this to replace my purple one. ( I've had it for at least 38 yrs. I took it to Nashville in 1985) I shopped in town and looked at hard shells and soft sides, which I prefer. I needed a large one like my purple one for several reasons. We don't fly any more so don't need a carry-on size. I'm a plus size person and my clothes take up more room, especially when packing sweaters for a winter trip. that being said, this one seemed to fit the bill. Even side by side, they seem the same. They aren't. Its not as wide. The interior is quite a bit shallower. There is just one inside pocket. Will I return it? No. I'll keep it for short trips where I don't need to pack much. It IS lighter than my purple one which will make it easier for this 72 yr old female to lift onto beds and into the truck. (My sister taught me years ago that if I can't lift or carry a suitcase, repack. Don't rely on other people . Why should someones' trip be ruined by hurting themselves lifting my suitcase?) ... show more

This is a nice bag but I feel like the wheels don’t really move well. It just doesn’t move smoothly despite it having the 360 wheels. It’s a little clunky and kind of heavy. This suitcase was supposed to be in burgundy and it took two weeks to be delivered. The box it came in was also coming a part when it was delivered. I have a carry-on roller bag and a backpack by this company and have found them to be of good quality. This suitcase looks to be that too. With the length of delivery time, I am not able to wait to return this one and have the the correct one to be delivered. It moves easily and has handles on three sides to pick it up.
