3.5 years later: I definitely recommend this bag. It's well-made, roomy (despite being a carry on), and fairly light. I used it regularly for 3.5 years, including overpacking it and the fabric/zippers were sturdy. After those 3.5 years, one of the wheels degraded a bit and was hard to roll. The bag was still under the original Swissgear warranty, and the process to replace my bag was very easy. I had a replacement bag in hand within 5 days of my warranty claim. I’ve only used this luggage twice for weekend getaways but found it to be the perfect size. The separate components come in handy and the spinner wheels work great. Edit 12-29-25: My earlier review was my truthful opinion. Update: I heard back from SwissGear several months later with an apology for the delay in response. They replaced the piece with the broken zipper pull and offered a 25% coupon for any additional purchase. I got the tote bag, of course. To clarify about the handle- other customers commented on that "feel" as well and noted that the handle was durable in use. That was my experience in my 4 weeks of regular use in travel, too. Earlier review: The box of the luggage seems nicely made. The handle feels fragile. The zipper pull broke somewhere on my second time it was checked for air travel. The manufacturer did not make good on the defect. Customer service seems to be AI and repeatedly asked for the same proof from the label from the bag (which was impossible for me to photograph). Overall, I liked the bag when I used it. The failure to honor their warranty took away my pleasure in the product. ... show more

    • Great product except the telescoping handle is not well-made.

The case appears sturdy and protect your clothes and other items inside. The wheels roll smoothly and appear. The telescoping handle is the only week link in this product. It wobbles, does not hold its position. Good value for money. Size is good and fits into the overseat bins.

Full disclosure: I am a paralyzed traveler. I need a carry-on that is rock solid in terms of functionality and durability. I’ve used this luggage extensively in the six months that I’ve owned it. My limited mobility makes me hard on my luggage. I bought this product to replace a very expensive Hartman carry on. I also a big T. Anthony fan/purchaser. I have high standards. I’m blown away by this item, especially given its v affordable price point. There is a lot of great to say about this luggage: First, it is perfectly designed in that there are two outside pockets that are perfect for carrying a billfold, cell phone, etc. They do not interfere with being able to open the luggage completely or partially in terms of accessing the main storage area. This is quite clever. Second, inside, it is super sturdy with an interior metal frame. The wheels are super solid and roll well with little resistance. Nice touches include a large dedicated pocket for dirty laundry and a separate toiletries pocket. U won’t need to pack a separate dop kit (saving space). The telescoping handle works well. If I had one improvement in the design, it would be to allow this handle to lock before full extension. I lock my luggage when I leave my hotel room. The zippers have holes at the end to facilitate this. I also like that the handle for carrying the luggage horizontally, is exceptionally strong and perfect for my lock so that I may store it under my bed to lock it to the bed frame. Last, I purchased mine in Royal Navy blue. I must say with the Swiss flag in red and white, it is stylish indeed! I very much look forward to packing it and loading it for my next adventure. After searching Amazon & Macy’s apps for 2 weeks looking for a carry on for my son, I checked out countless hard side & soft side options & poured over reviews. I finally settled on this soft sided carry on. Amazon buyers had posted some useful videos & the reviews for this bag were consistently awesome. I wanted something with good quality spinner wheels & a telescoping handle that was sturdy. The bag needed to be affordable and have nice features inside & out. This carry on checked all of those boxes! Very impressed with the look & quality of this bag, both inside & out. Smooth zips with high quality zipper pulls, 2 handy & spacious exterior pockets for easy access to travel essentials (this is why I chose soft side over hard side!) a separate expansion zipper for more packing space for clothing, and I love that it has sturdy handles on three sides to easily grab this bag from any angle. One side has nice “feet” if you want to set the bag down horizontally. The telescoping handle works smoothly and locks into place. There’s two different height choices for this handle. One feature it has that nobody mentioned is that the zippers have little holes you can align and you can then use your own suitcase padlock on the bag if needed. The interior is spacious, nicely lined and there’s an attached mesh zipper pocket on one of the long sides, and also a detachable zip bag they call a wet bag, so stuff your wet swimsuit inside if need be or use it for cosmetics or whatever. Not sure if it’s TSA friendly because it’s clear, but not exactly see through. The spinner wheels glide as smooth as silk across my wood floors here at home & it has excellent maneuverability. A nice dark blue, soft materiel. It’s a great looking bag! I got a really outstanding deal on this when I checked out the list of these bags available at a lower price, shipped from the Amazon warehouse. I chose an option that stated it would be “Used, in like new condition” that was listed $30 cheaper than new. It came in pristine packaging, no damage whatsoever to the box that held the suitcase and still taped up with “Swiss Gear” packaging tape. The suitcase & handles were still wrapped in plastic, tags were intact, and all of the pockets on the suitcase still were stuffed with the packaging tissue paper! This was an awesome score for under $100 and I’m sure this thing will last a very long time! Look no further, this is the perfect carry on bag. I’m sure Swiss Gear’s matching larger size bags are just as awesome, too. ... show more

Absolutely love this suitcase - it's affordable but well built, can take damage and be fine, and has lots of pockets/openings to really pack in whatever you might want on a trip. It's also great because the wheels allow for side rolling which not all suitcases do.

    • Great Value Travel Bag — Not Perfect, But Gets It Done

This is a solid piece of luggage for the money. It’s not trying to be some ultra-premium suitcase, but it does a lot of things right where it matters. First off, it rolls well. The spinner wheels make it easy to move through airports and tight spaces, and that’s honestly half the battle with luggage. The handle setup works fine overall, though it’s not the most rigid thing in the world—you’ll notice a little play if you’re paying attention. Storage and organization are where this really shines. The exterior pockets are actually useful (not just there for looks), and the expandable feature gives you some extra room when you inevitably pack more coming home than you left with. Material feels durable enough for real travel. It’s a softside bag, so you’re not getting hard-shell protection, but the fabric holds up well and doesn’t feel cheap. Now, keeping it honest—this isn’t a precision-built piece. The handle has a little wobble, and overall fit and finish are more “good enough” than tight and refined. But at this price point, that’s expected. Bottom line: it’s a dependable, no-nonsense suitcase that rolls easy, packs well, and holds up to normal travel.
