  • Science without breaking the budget
I have a science and education background; I bought this for my teen girls who wanted to know what I used to do in my career as a molecular biologist. Microscopes were central to what I did at work and those were thousands of dollars in cost so obviously getting one of those was not an option. In my search for a suitable scope, there were a lot of duds out in the market, but then I came upon the Swift microscope. This Swift model is comparable, if not more, than what a typical high school / middle school science lab might have. With it, I have been able to teach my daughters basic microscopy: preparing stains and slides, using different lens objectives, looking at stained slides, live samples, and using the oil immersion lens. The camera attachment easily sets up with a laptop and shows clear pictures of what is in the scope's field of vision. This is a not a "professional's" microscope. It is however, a very suitable one for teaching and getting young minds interested in authentic scientific experiences that may just spark that passion to follow into that field. Even for me, when I handle the scope, it does not ever feel like a toy. My daughters had a legitimate glimpse into how I learned and used biology. ... show more

  • Great microscope
I just used this microscope for the first time. Wow! Much better than I expected. Sharp, clear images. Optics are great. It is only monocular- thats a drawback. Also the power connector does not seem to plug all the way into the microscope so that could present a safety hazard. I will contact the company about that. Another drawback is that the stage is stationary so you have to move the slide around with your fingers. Admittedly, I have not used it very much- just opened it today- but it appears to be an excellent microscope for children or beginners. ... show more

  • Probably good, but check for problems
Size: SW380T+1.3 camera
Generally good scope, but the one I got was unable to hold the condenser at a high enough position to allow dark field viewing. If this is to be your first “serious” microscope make sure you get (or make - it’s easy) a patch stop filter and try it out with the 4x and 10x objectives. The condenser should stay at the high position needed without you having to hold it there. Dark field isn’t all or even most of what you will use (I use it about 20% of the time) but it’s too important to not have at this level of microscope. That’s really my only complaint, and maybe I just got a defective one (I returned it and got something more expensive). Other than that the microscope was very nice - good optics and comfortable viewing. ... show more

  • Certainly worth it!!!
Size: SW380T+1.3 camera
Can see slides in entirety, something that other scopes can’t. Literally returned 2 microscopes (one costing more and the other roughly the same price) before buying this one and loving it. Brightness is fabulous, functions exactly as it should, looks like the pictures, and absolutely worth the value ... show more

  • Save your money
Size: SW380T+1.3 camera
Save your money and find a different brand. The build quality is meh. The packaging is substandard. The camera doesn’t connect with the manufacturer’s software (which is weird). I wrote the manufacturer several times with no response. And their website is shady. Most of the pages don’t work. There is no FAQs. And no contact page. ... show more

  • Perfect for my kiddos
This was exactly what I was hoping for in a microscope set for my science loving boys who are 8 and 11. This set has everything they need to both explore on their own and also check out the prepared slides that come with it. Its extremely easy to adjust to view for both of them and that is a huge plus in my book. The different zooms also make everything come to life and the fact that it comes with everything they need to take care of it makes it even better as a mom. This will not only provide hours of fun and learning for them but it will be something that they can use for a long time in the future! ... show more

  • Replacement Parts not available
Size: SW380T+swiftcam5.0 MP(3.0 USB)
I purchased this microscope for my elementary school classroom in April 2021. Since that time it has worked great until the LED light stopped working. Unfortunately, the part is not available for sale anywhere and I reached out to the company via email with no response. The company does not have a phone number listed. Therefore, if you purchase this product and something goes wrong it will be impossible to fix. At the end of 3 years it is a waste of $600 for my classroom budget. Buy a miscroscope that you know can be serviced or find replacement parts. ... show more
