Even though what I bought was just a full size mattress, the package was so heavy that it took two people to carry it up to the room on the second floor. Mostly because of that, the mattress was packed well and at first, it was only 4 to 5 inch thick. After days of expanding, it puffed up to a perfect 12 inch! This full mattress did provide you with sufficient support when lying on it. As for the gel foam, compared with my original mattress, the temperature of the surface did make me feel cooler than others. Although its black cover looks easy to trap heat, this memory foam mattress did stay cool even during the day.
