I am a cat and interior design enthusiast. I have 4 indoor/outdoor cats of various sizes and ages who I admittedly spoil , but i also train them not to scratch our home and furnishings because that is important to me too. So I have made an uneasy peace about the need to have a scratching surface in our home to allow for that instinctual need. The conventional items for this use however are not very aesthetically pleasing - especially the type that I have come to regard as the most useful and stable for cats to use - a post with a wide base. We keep one of these that all but my biggest/tallest cat uses, because it doesn't allow him to fully extend into the stretch and scratch pose. This scratching post is superior to that one in looks and function because it is still as stable and sturdy, but without the large base it can be placed in an out of the way fashion and blends in better especially against our white walls. I was also able to place it slightly higher than our post so all our cats could more easily enjoy its use. The install was easy for me 10 minutes or so including assembling the necessary tools. I would highly recommend on stud placement because I don't think dry wall anchors would be able to sustain it being used vigorously, though the box did contain these and toggle bolts for masonry wall attachment as well. Where I chose to install this I could only get one of the top and bottom holes onto a stud and anchored the other, but it seems very sturdy.My one complaint about the hardware was that the screw heads were easily stripped when using a drill motor to screw into the stud, so I had to replace them. Otherwise the instructions were clear and easy to follow , I chose not to install the toys and bar that came with but they are fine and can be used with another toy I have that allows for clip on type toys. I really like that this comes with replacements for the scratch portion too! To help my cats adapt to this new post I have temporarily placed their old one alongside and rubbed a little cat nip on it. So far 2 out of 4 have already tried it out on its first day.

My cat loves this post, granted every time I try to take a picture she doesn't want to be involved. No worries, I will just keep the memories in my brain forever. Mounting it to the wall was super simple with the included template so that took out all the guesswork of where to put the holes just right. It came with all hardware and I don't see that thing moving anytime soon even if my friend's chunky cat comes over. Additionally I liked the extra included feather stick holder because it allows for extra fun for my kitty. Overall I'm impressed and would purchase again or give as a gift to a fellow cat friend.

I think this is a great product. It attaches to the wall and includes all the tools to do so. It frees up floor space and with it attached to the wall you don't have to worry about it getting knocked over. It gives kitty the resistance needed to get a good stretch and scratch out of it because it stays put where you install it. I love that it comes with the little play mouse as well. Everything you need is included and it looks nice and neat. I did have one complaint and that is the holes for the toy attachement was too small for the strings that had to run through it. Since it was flexible plastic I was easily able to drill a slightly bigger hole into it for a perfect fit.

My cats seem to like it and that's what matters. It was simple to put together in a few minutes and came with the hardware to install it. However the screws to install it were much longer than what I wanted to use and since I knew it was going straight into a stud I used shorter screws that I had on hand. Overall it seems pretty nicely made. My one complaint is that the rod that goes through the top to hold the 2 toys comes with 2 holes. My wife and I probably tried for 20 minutes to thread the rope through the hole but couldn't make it happen. Eventually I just took a slightly larger drill bit and expanded the holes. I would assume most people buying this will have a drill on hand since it needs a drill to install it so it's not that big of a deal I guess

Leo says this is one of the best purchases he’s ever forced me to make! Seriously, he loves it! Definitely worth a purchase (read my 2 notes below before buying). Packaging was great, install supplies were top tier and instructions were shockingly helpful. The 2 major notes I have for anyone purchasing: -The toggle bolts for require 5/8” holes (very large), so make sure you are prepared for the big holes and have a 5/8” drill bit. -The paper guide was about 1/4” off. I recommend only drilling the bottom holes and installing the bottom brace and then marking where the top piece sits fully assembled.

I hardly know how to rate the scratching pole. Two weeks after assembly, neither cat will go near it. Even rubbing with catnip didn’t help. The jute has a strong chemical odor, and I suspect this smell is the problem. The instructions were good, so it was easy to assemble. I had to loosen the two scratching sections about a quarter turn to align the brackets, which made the joint a bit loose. I inserted a shim made from plastic at the join so I could screw the two pieces tighter. When mounting the pole into a stud, save yourself some frustration and pre-drill the holes. The screw heads wrung out when trying to screw directly into the wood. My husband had a heck of a time removing that first partially-in screw. We ended up using our own screws. The cat toys were a good idea, but the elastic string won’t go into the holes on the crosspiece. I had to tie them on. Even though it’s well built, and some cats may like it, I’m rating only three stars because the chemical odor repels our cats.
