My son has been begging for a microscope for a while, and after we both did some research, we bought this one. It has not disappointed. It's easy enough for a child to navigate and learn on, has a few samples and different magnification levels which make looking at things exciting! We have only had the microscope for a few weeks, but so far have no complaints and keep discovering new specimens to explore!

This is a great starter microscope. Light is powered by a standard US plug, not batteries. I wish the lights were brighter; very few reasons to turn the brightness dial down, but times I wish it could be turned up more. It’s not the heaviest, but it’s heavy enough to avoid some vibrations. The focus knobs turn smooth and are calibrated well for finding focus. Have had very little luck with highest magnification lens - things are too dark and can’t find anything in focus. If this tool is for fun or for elementary/middle school age kids, it’s great for teaching how to operate a microscope and see some cool things. If it’s for high school / college labs, I’d suggest finding a better quality microscope. This is pretty much a “you get what you pay for” piece of equipment. For me, it’s worth it for my two elementary schoolers.

For the price, I was quite suprised at the great quality of this microscope I recieved. I am able to see all the specimens in my bacterial cultures that I was desiring to see. I use this daily for my Korean Natural Farming, so I am very happy with my purchase. An added bonus was the plastic covering for the scope - I don't have to worry about dust getting onto the lenses.

can only use one of the lenses due to there being something on the inside of the other lense. extremely difficult to get to focus. i will have to get a different one that works better with the actual zoom.
