Why did I ever waste money on an air mattress?! I had been using an air mattress for several months and it finally gave out. I still wanted a temporary sleeping solution because I'm not yet ready to invest in the bed of my dreams, so I decided to try this camping cot. My only regret is not buying this first and skipping the air mattress altogether. This is a great cot. I purchased the XXL even though I'm a petite 5'3" lady, but it's the perfect size. I don't know how I'd ever be comfortable in anything smaller or more narrow. It's so easy to set-up. Zero installation needed. Just unfold the cot and push down on the cot until you hear it softly lock into place so that it's entirely flat (except for a slight rise on the northern / head side). It's extremely lightweight, definitely portable once it's folded-up in its carrying sack. (Yes, it does come with the advertised carrying sack.) I think the cushion/"mattress" it comes with is quite fluffy and soft and, even though it's vacuum sealed, it immediately puffed-up as soon as I cut open the package. The cot also has a handy little carrying pouch on one side (the right side, if you're laying on the cot) so you can place some personal items in there. Note: I'm the kind of person that loves sleeping on the ground. I love ultra firm sleeping surfaces. So, to me, this cot is super comfortable. It's firm and sturdy and level. The only thing I did not like about the cot and mattress is the initial chemical smell. Definitely let this air out a bit before sleeping on it. Otherwise, I highly recommend this (and definitely get the XXL size if you're my size or taller/bigger). I only wish I had bought it sooner instead of wasting money on an air mattress. ... show more

At 6'1 and almost 300 lb, this cot is surprisingly comfortable even without the pad. It has a built-in pillow which is also comfortable and is very sturdy. It would be better if the pad could stay with the cot when packing away,but unfortunately that's not a possibility. I would not recommend for backpacking, but for an overnight in a tent close the a vehicle, it works out nicely. Being that I'm a bigger guy this cot is great width wise and I don't feel like I don't have enough room. It has a small side pocket to store cell phone and other small objects. ... show more

The pad that comes with it was actually a more plush than I was expecting based on other reviews for this product, but still not as comfortable as I would like, but that's not totally unexpected. Both of our grandsons are 6 ft or taller and both slept on these cots. No complaints and even when one of them had the option to move to a regular bed and he opted to stay on the cots. They were easy to set up and easy to make. The quality is high and they were easy to set up and to store when done. The cushions held up well to both of the guys using them for multiple nights. Very comfortable cot for my 80 year old sister to sleep on but after she left, I had a terrible time putting it away. Struggled to fold the frame back up, but far worse was trying to stuff the mattress into the carry-bag. Don't even think about trying to get the frame into the carry-bag. I thought it was more important to protect the mattress in storage and just let the folded-up frame stand in the closet corner. But it took me a good 2 hours to stuff the mattress into the carry-bag and in the end, had to use a broom handle to get the mattress into the bag. If you have a strong arm and some patience, this could be a very good buy because I don't think your guest will complain about the night's sleep. But be warned, putting it away will be very difficult. Save yourself some time -- start with the broom handle. Maybe you could get the job done in 45 minutes. ... show more

We got this for my Mom's hse. There were 2 great grans ages 7 & 8 who would need somewhere to sleep. It was easy to setup, does come with the mattress and held up to 3 of them climbing in when cousins came. An adult laid in it to see if it hold his weight and it did. I can't speak about the 500lb limit, but he felt it was sturdy. I bought an egg crate foam for a TXL to add to the comfort and fitted sheets for TXL as well. It all worked well for us. ... show more

I bought the cot due to the size. When it came in it seemed too small for my 14 year old son. After measuring it, the size is 77x30, 2 inches off of both sides.
