It works great for the Surface if you want to use it as a laptop. The keyboard is ok for work on your lap but I would recommend using it on a hard surface. The keyboard lights up which is great for typing in low light. The trackpad works like you would expect. No issues with it. The fingerprint reader works great but I can't say I have had very many uses for it. Storage/charger for the pen works with no issues. One of the features that I didn't know it did is you can flip it around to the back and it turns off so you don't accidentally hit the buttons when you want to use the Surface as a tablet.

These are expensive keyboards but are well worth it for their quality. Unfortunately in my case I bought a used one from Amazon and whoever had returned it prior had swapped out the $200 Microsoft keyboard with a $30 generic keyboard that Amazon also sells. Amazon was good about accepting the return and refunding my purchase but this is the second time I've gotten something other than what I ordered when buying used/open box. Both times Amazon did me right but it was frustrating dealing with not having what I ordered for longer as I sought out a replacement.

I bought a cheaper keyboard to save a few dlls. It was heavier and had connectivity issues. Returned it spend a little more money on this keyboard man this keyboard is awesome light wait no connectivity issues at all love it.

Very light keyboard with great magnetic connection. I like the back light which allows me work in low light environments and the way keyboard sticks to the screen of the Surface when closed.

The media could not be loaded. Fits perfectly in my surface pro x. Does have backlit in keyboards and charging port for slim pen .. overall it’s great and the finger print scanner works fine 👍🏼

I work in IT and use every sort of computing device and OS there is. This keyboard is excellent, I must say. The form factor, the tactile feel of the keys, and the mousepad buttons are excellent. I have nothing bad to say about it, and for me that says a lot! I have not used the fingerprint reader yet, so maybe I won't like that.

Pros: * Surface Pen 2 charges in pen slot on keyboard - very convenient * Keyboard is light and attaches magnetically (simple to use) * Bluetooth not required for use Cons: * Poor quality fingerprint reader with tiny sensor area causing repeated recognition errors necessitating frequent password or PIN entry in Windows. This defeats the entire reason to buy this version of the keyboard. We had previous generation Surface Pro keyboard with fingerprint reader for earlier Surface Pro model and did not encounter this issue to this extent. * Windows recently displayed exclamation point next to driver for fingerprint reader in device manager. This occurred "out of the blue." Had to delete driver and have Windows re-detect driver to get it working again. Reader stopped recognizing fingerprints again a few days later. FYI - finger tips and sensor kept clean. This appears to be either a defect in the driver or in the hardware. Again, did not have these issues with prior version.
