  • Good Value Purchase
I've owned this for about six months now and it gets used at least five times per week. Understand that I'm reviewing this based on the price and other equipment in this price range, give or take. Obviously, if you spend $2000 you will get a better product. I got one of the last ones available at that time (there was a rush for equipment then), but now it appears it is back in stock. Within this price range it's hard to beat this one. So, here's the good and the bad: The good: 1. Long stride length. It will be hard to find another in this price range with an 18" stride length. And it matters if you're tall. 2. Decent range of resistance, from low to high. Plenty for typical cardio (that can be a subjective I know). The highest setting could be just a touch harder, but it's certainly enough for most people. 3. I find it pretty sturdy. I keep it on a cheap, thin yoga mat, over tiled flooring. Doesn't wobble. I can't say for carpet. Now, more expensive means larger and therefore more sturdy; however, this is just fine. 4. So far, it's reasonably quiet. No squeaks. Eventually I'll need to lube some of the moving parts, but so far so good. 5. The handles and arms are a good range, for longer and shorter arms. And they actually work, in that the resistance can be felt through the handles if you're using them. 6. It's not too large and bulky. The pictures give a pretty accurate idea. One of the things to note is that you'll be about 2' up when you're on it. Tip: stand on your couch - if your head doesn't hit the ceiling you're good, with lots of room to spare. 7. It also goes backwards. This is actually a nice feature in this price range. 8. Generally, a good value ... it will certainly provide the cardio part of a workout program ... like all exercise equipment, the biggest component is the diligence to use it. This is absolutely usable. The bad: 1. The display is basically useless, other than the timer. Now, that doesn't really bother me as I'm not really trying to count calories or track my heart rate, but you're not going to get anything near accurate from the display. It doesn't mean you can't use the equipment for exercise though; it still does what it's supposed to do: provide resistance for cardio. 2. If you wear larger than a size 12 men's shoe, you will have a hard time fitting into the foot plate. I wear a size 12 men's and it's EXACTLY the right length and width. 3. The max weight limit is low. That doesn't matter to me, but it might to some others. 4. It is, quite literally, the hardest piece of self-assemble equipment I've ever put together. It can be done, obviously, but, wow ... it's quite the puzzle. 5. You can't change the ramp angle; however, you'll only get that in the higher end machines, so it's bit unfair to expect it in this price range. It might matter to some folks, though. 6. It's petty, but I really wish it had a bottle holder. You can rig something pretty easily, but I missed it more than I thought I would. Overall, a good value for home equipment in the current environment. If you want to keep costs reasonable and still be able to have a piece of cardio equipment at home, this one will do you. Frankly, you can spend thousands of dollars ... your heart, lungs, legs, and arms aren't going to actually work any harder with for the extra money, but something more expensive will probably last longer. This is pretty well built, but it's not going to last a lifetime or anything. ... show more

  • Great Value for your money!
After reading numerous reviews and looking at numerous models, we settled on the Sunny elliptical trainer. My only complaint was that I paid for 4-5 day shipping and it took almost a month to get here. When it did arrive, it was well packaged and had all the parts included. It also had the installation tools if you needed them. I thought that was nice. The packaging and directions were well thought out and easy to follow. My wife and I did followed other reviewer's advice and carried the parts upstairs separately. The package had some nice weight to it. Once we laid out all of the parts, the assembly went very well without any issues. Although we took our time, It only took us a little less than two hours to assemble. The leveling knobs on the machine are very helpful to stabilize it. And, their easy to adjust. The unit was going to be placed on carpet so again, we followed some of the other reviewer's advice and added a solid base. I used a 3/4" MDF board for the base. Be sure to cut it wide enough to prevent rocking of the machine. This helped greatly because the unit comes with track braces (see pic) to help ensure that the wheels do not come off the rails. It's a nice safety touch but they did drag on our carpet. The solid base took care of that issue. The unit runs very quiet without any squeaks or noises. The grease for the handle axle is prepacked so don't clean out those holes. We slid the axle all the way through several times alternating each end to evenly spread the grease on it. The best feature in my opinion on this particular elliptical is that the pedals seem to articulate, meaning, they flatten out on the down stride (see pic). This makes it very ergonomically comfortable as opposed to other ellipticals that keep your feet at an awkward downward angle throughout the majority of the motion. Great design on the pedals! The stride length is 18" and that is adequate for me, I'm 5' 11." While I would prefer a 20" span, for the money I'm good. I also chose the 18" stride because my wife and I will be using it. She is 5' 4" and it is perfect for her. I will tell you this, this machine will give your legs quite a workout! The monitor is basic and easy to work and meets our expectations. The unit is also very easy to maneuver. The front base comes with two wheels inserted into it. All you have to do is tilt and roll. This is our first piece of equipment made by Sunny and so far, very impressed with them. In closing, If you're looking for a no frills solid elliptical with a small imprint that will give you a good work out, this is a great value buy. ... show more

  • Smooth, sturdy, and a heck of a deal!
I'm in recovery from 2 total knee replacements within the past 6 months. I use an elliptical at my physical therapist's office. I investigated her machine and found it was over $3,000! I've been pricing, reading reviews, and comparing various ellipticals for my own personal use. I was hesitant to order this one, as the ratings were not as high as some others. I was looking for an elliptical that offered as close to a 20-inch step as I could. This one is 18 inches. It arrived well-packaged with all the parts clearly identified and included all necessary tools. My husband and I were a bit intimated by the directions, but if you go through each of the 6 steps, everything comes together fairly smoothly. We did have a bit of a struggle getting the tension rod to go where we needed it. All in all, we took a leisurely 1 1/2 hours to put it together. (Hint: Check out the pictures all the way through before you start. We struggled to put the bottom rungs on not realizing the wheels went on the 'tracks'! The machine is very stable for as compact and small as it is. It glides very smoothly along the tracks, both forward and backward. It makes very little sound when in use. You do have to step up onto the machine about 5 inches. Overall, I am extremely pleased. It feels so close to the $3,000 machine in terms of stability and smoothness, but at a fraction of the price. I highly recommend this unit. ... show more
