  • Good replacement for Creality Magnetic Bed
Size: 3PCS Magnetic Build Plate
I purchased these to replace a worn-out Creality magnetic mat on my Ender 3 Pro, and an extremely damaged mat on a "used" Ender 3 V2 Neo that I purchased and rebuilt through Comgrow. These are slightly smaller than the Creality magnetic mats and unfortunately, since both my Pro and the V2 Neo had magnets installed on the beds and I didn't want to remove them and install the new magnetic sheets, the Sunlu mats didn't magnetize in the right orientation (with the small handle at the front) so I just cut the handle off the mats so they could be installed sideways on the existing plates and "magnetize" properly. Those of you that don't already have a magnetic bed can install them in the proper orientation with the included self-adhesive magnetic sheets, or if you do have a magnetic bed maybe you'll be lucky enough that it will be the correct orientation already. I had the same problem with a replacement Creality mat in the past, so it isn't just because these were Sunlu brand, it's just the way they're cut sometimes. Other than this very MINOR issue, these Sunlu mats are exceptional in every way. They stay fixed in place without any issues, and adhesion is exceptional! I have actually been printing PLA without heating the bed and had no issues at all. Adhesion is good enough that you'll be glad that these are flexible mats so you can lift them up and flex them to remove the print, otherwise, you'll have a hard time getting them off the bed without damaging something. Since putting these on my printers I have not had a failed print due to adhesion issues, only running out of filament, or a slicer mistake on my part. I would recommend these mats to anyone looking for a magnetic bed that is great quality, affordable, and works as well or better than most other options on the market. I have Creality and Sunlu magnetic beds, and a PEI bed (smooth and textured) and so far these Sunlu flexible magnetic beds are outperforming the others hands-down! I also have a couple of Glass beds that I haven't even tested yet, mainly because these Sunlu magnetic beds are performing so flawlessly that I have no real reason to switch. As I said before, the only flaws I can see with these is that they are slightly smaller than the Creality magnetic mats so they don't overhang the bed, they basically fit the footprint exactly (if using the magnet sheet they come paired with, or you're lucky enough that they pair well with the existing magnet of your printer), but it's not like you're printing out past the edge of the bed anyway, and that if you're pairing them with an existing magnet they may have to install sideways and you'll have to cut off the handle to clear the Z rail on whatever side it is facing. The price and adhesion more than makes up for it! Buy these, you won't regret it! ... show more

  • Used Differently.
Size: 3PCS Magnetic Build Plate
I needed a replacement for the flexible magnetic pad on my Ender 3 Pro. I didn't want to use the adhesive pad which goes underneath the removable one. By the way, this comes with the adhesive pad and two removable ones. So I just used the flexible one and was relying on the magnetic property to hold it in place. It didn't seem as secure as the OEM pad, but it held. Until it didn't. I was halfway through a print for a helmet when the pad moved and I had pla spaghetti. So I tried using duct tape, but that was no good either. Then I remembered how glass build plates are held down with binder clips. Got some from the dollar store and it works fine now. One other problem. My prints were really adhering to the flexible pad. Brims were nearly impossible to remove. I came across a video of someone spraying a 50-50 solution of water and alcohol to help with the release. It works, but I didn't care for the alcohol. So I let the pad cool down and run it under cold water. Everything comes off the pad much easier. ... show more

  • Fabulous print surface.
Size: 3PCS Magnetic Build Plate
I ordered the “SUNLU Magnetic Build Surface, 3pcs Flexible Removable Build Platforms for 3D Printers” set on a Friday and received it on Saturday. Super quick shipping. NOTE: There are no instructions included with this product, so take your time to ensure alignment. Once it’s stuck on, it’s stuck. I took my time installing the magnetic sheet, ensuring that the magnetic field matched with the removable print surface (if you are 90° off, the magnetic print surface will not stick to the magnet you put on the heat bed…if it is difficult to separate the two, then you have them aligned correctly, if they come apart easily, then they are 90° off, simply rotate the piece you stick to the heat bed ¼ turn and they will stick (magnetically) together aggressively). If you do not do this, the parts will not magnetically join and the print surface will slide and you will have failed prints. When preparing to stick the heat bed sheet to the bed, only peel back an inch or so of the paper, align the sheet with the heat bed and stick it down, next lift the free end of the magnetic sheet up, and slowly peel the backing paper off while rubbing down the sheet. This ensures a good bond with no wrinkles or bubbles. Once the sticky magnetic sheet is adhered to the heat bed, place the top sheet on and then lower your print bed down at least three full turns of the leveling wheels. Preheat to PLA temps and auto home your bed. The print head will home several millimeters above the surface. This is expected and normal. Next loosen the screws holding the z-axis stop switch and GENTLY move the stop switch down a couple millimeters, tighten then auto home again. Your print head should be considerably closer to the surface now. If you are happy with the distance, tighten the z-stop down so the switch doesn’t move and then using your favorite MANUAL bed leveling procedure, level your bed. You probably will not need clips, but if you feel you need them, then by all means use them (use the removable clamp kind, not the stock clips that hold your glass bed on). When you print, use a wipe of 90% isopropyl alcohol to clean the surface. Give the preheat a little extra time to heat soak the magnetic sheets. Removal of the print is as simple as lifting the magnetic sheet off the print be bed and giving it a bend. Skirt lines, purge lines and brims might be a little reluctant to release, so be careful with the scraper tool to avoid gouging the sheet. It would be a good idea to experiment with nozzle distance for first layer from the print surface to avoid damaging the surface…PLA+ sticks pretty aggressively…I’m sure PETG will stick pretty well too. Since it’s a removable surface, it would not be a bad idea to re-level for each print. That’s just the way I’m going to do it. All in all, I’m happy with this print surface and will recommend it to my friends. ... show more
