Replaced LED lights in 4 inch cans which did not put out very much light. EASY installation. I like bright white white white light and these new lights have adjustable color temperature. The 6500 setting is extremely bright and extremely white. I installed 19 of these with no problems. 5 stars!

    • Great recessed light.
These lights are excellent. They are very bright and 3000K, which was a little to much for my kitchen. I was a little concerned and thought maybe I should have gotten 2700K (lights with an orange hue) instead. However, I'm extremely pleased with these lights after putting them on a dimmer switch (I used Lutron DVWCL-153PH-WH). During the day it seems like natural light and dimmed at night it feels like moonlight. The lights are instant on - no delay at all. However, after I put them on a dimmer switch there is now a slight delay, which must be from the switch. There is no noticeable flicker in these lights, unlike cheaper lights, and the color CRI seems great. I think there must be some sort of phosphor in the bulb, because they turn off slowly after hitting the light switch. In fact, when I turn them off at night after leaving them on for a while, the bulbs continue to glow in the dark (dimly) for a long time - like 15 minutes. Mounting them into the existing cans was easy and the included diagram helped. The gasket seems to be good quality. The bulb is towards the bottom of the light, which means wider spread of light, but also more glare. The only downside so far is that the power convertor on the back seems a little cheap. The tiny plastic pegs attaching the black power convertor to the bulb had broken off of one of the lights and was loose on two more ( I ordered six total). ... show more

    • Beautiful and affordable.
These are beautiful: bright, clean, and really, really affordable. Like the Commercial Electric, and unlike the Sylvania, LED downlights, the frame is made of aluminium, not plastic; that makes a lot of difference in appearance and fit against the ceiling, especially a textured ceiling. The 'lens' is flat and well anchored to the frame - no gaps. My contractor and I prefer flat lenses to convex lenses - they look more natural to us, like sunlight. I specifically picked these because they have a color temperature of 3000K, much nicer, to me, than the common 2700K, which looks like incandescent lights to me. Again, it looks like little peeks of daylight are peeping through our vaulted ceiling at midnight. Bonus: as bright as they are, they are completely and easily dimmable down to 10% with a Lutron or Leviton LED dimmer. The only downsides we encountered were (a) they are approx. 1" narrower in diameter than the trim of the incandescent lamps they replaced so a few edges of the poorly-cut holes in the ceiling for the cans were visible in a couple of spots around the trim, and (b) they lack a foam gasket on the backside to seal the light fixture from air and insect infiltration. We fixed both problems, and improved the overall looks against a knocked-down ceiling, by caulking around the trim and touching up with some matching ceiling white. It seals the gap that can seem like a dark shadow around at least one edge of the trim no matter how you look at it, covers those poorly cut spots, and just makes the lights disappear into the ceiling. Seeing as these are rated to last 25-30 years, caulking them into place seems more than reasonable to do as we should never, ever have to touch them again. My contractor was sufficiently impressed that he asked *me* for references to use these on other projects he has. That seems to be pretty high confirmation. ... show more

This product killed it. Replaced the lame, burn out frequently (and expensive) CFL "mini tubes/plugs". Easy install after I bought adapters and so much brighter with no eye-crushing flicker. I'll let the six I bought perform for a few weeks and then replace the three other (bathroom) pole CFLs with an additional order. Thumbs up! Worked great for us . . . good quality, easy enough install and a huge upgrade. fwiw, I did not bypass the ballasts because the installation of the originals made this an electrician level change (I found out up once up in our attic); I had read that as in issue in the reviews, but no hum or any issues whatsoever initially. I think, worst case is that I replace these $16 fixtures less frequently than the lame straight CFL plugs, which flicker, have poor light, and are annoying. That just to be helpful if you have trepidations for ballast considerations, which I did. Your results may vary, but a home run for our household. Highly recommend. ... show more
