  • Nice Little Shed
I use this to store my Briggs and Stratton portable generator on the patio, so that I don't have to drag it all the way around the house from our larger shed. It's convenient and looks good, it matches our Suncast deck box sitting right beside it. There is also enough room left over to store a few of my landscape tools. So far it has remained dry, despite torrential rain we often get living on the coast. ... show more

  • Not as sturdy
The instructions were not very clear. If you are just looking for a cover for your items, then the storage unit is ok. The unit is not very secure, possibly due to it not being very sturdy.

  • Watch their "Limited Warranty".
The metal hinges are fine. BUT...the plastics used to make the Shed, is NOT strong enough to hold the front doors. So my shed had one case; where it would not hold the left side on the top hinge. All the other 3 others worked OK. But the left door up "hinge" will NOT stay attached to the left wing. Yes, when the doors are closed, it is OK. But the moment you open the left door. It sags and falls to the right. The first photo show it when it is closed and opened. Then when you open the left door, the metal hings falls off the left Wing "B". Yet the other 3 hinges do NOT do that. I tried all 3 other hinges on it and all of them had the SAME problem. So the problem is NOT the hinge. Rather it is the Wing. And hear this. I called them withing 2 mos of receiving it and told them. They wanted photos. So I did it and that is the photos you can see. And they say that because of their limit warranty, they will NOT help me by sending out a new left wing. "Because I made accessories to the shed". Which MOST people do that when buying a generator. And I assured them that NOTHING I did; had ANY thing that would cause it. They still say NO! Oh well. So I would be very careful in buying from this company. ... show more

  • Assembling is the problem
This is a product that I would give 4.5 stars when fully assembled, but 3.5 stars because of the assembly process. The big problem for me was the 4 steel hinges. They DID NOT slide easily onto the plastic cylinders. They had to be forced onto the pin with a plastic hammer, and then I realized that this could twist off and break this plastic part of the hinges (pins) when opening. Also, one of the steel hinge-clamps would not tighten onto the side wall. I fixed the situation by clamping the steel hinge on a work table vice and then prying open the steel 'leaf' a bit on both ends with a small crow bar. Now the hinges could swivel easily and then could be clamped onto the walls without the whole assembly popping off every time the door opened. Also, the screws that clamp the steel hinges onto the walls were NOT easy to tighten with a standard #2 Philips screw driver. The side wall blocked the tightening process. I had to use an extra long screw driver, one that was sharp and hardly ever used and so had a good driving torque. Why didn't Suncast use hex bolts with which you could use a 90 degree hex tool to tighten? If the buyer could get through all these issues -- or be fortunate enough to get a unit with hinges that work without altering them -- then the finished product is a good one. Would not recommend this to a buyer who is not mechanically inclined. ... show more

  • Does the job, easy access but keeps trash secure
This was very easy to assemble. Could have done solo, but due to size, it is nice to have 2 people. We use this as trash can storage. We recently moved into a new house. We live out in the country where we have a big Raccoon problem, so need secure storage. The previous owners had a trash bin that was falling apart behind the house. In addition to being unsightly, it was very inconvenient for taking the trash out, and even MORE inconvenient when time to take the trash down the road to the recycle center (no trash pick up here). It fits 2 nice sized round cans (each holds 3-4 13 gal kitchen garbage bags easily with lids closed) no problem. It is nice enough looking that we were able to put it right out in front of the garage. The color is generic enough that it shouldn't clash with most, and actually is a pretty close match for us. I really like the lid prop... I can open the top one handed and the prop falls into place. It does take 2 hands usually to close, as the prop needs a little nudge to 'un-prop' and slide back into closed position, but this is very easy to do, as by that time hands are empty. Also important to us was being able to easily lock it, as Raccoon will indeed open just about anything. This would not be bear proof though. We don't typically take the cans out, but sometimes they do get messy and require cleaning. It is very easy to open the top and then open the front door(s). There are ledges that you could use to put in a shelf, but I can't attest to that, as we haven't a need for such. ... show more

  • I am really happy with this product!
The headline says it all. First, it was delivered very fast. The instructions were fantastic - they cover everything in a clear step-by-step manner. I was missing one plastic bolt (which did not really affect how the unit went together) and so I contacted the company. They immediately sent a complete set of replacements. The other reviewers mention about taking the time to make sure you have a stable foundation. While I do not think you need to go to the extent described in the instructions, it really does make a difference to have a level, stable base on which to locate your shed. I am lucky, in that I am a big guy, so I did not need two people to assemble the unit. I also did not need a rubber mallet as the instructions call for. But again, the instruction booklet is very careful and perhaps a bit conservative in how they detail the assembly, and between that and lousy instructions, I will take their method any day of the week. Once my shed was assembled, it has proven water tight and stable in high winds, even without anchoring the unit to the ground. I have mine located against a fence, and that helps protect it from the worst of the winds. If I had one recommendation, I would ask they they sell a shelf unit or some sort of storage rack as an option ready to go, although the instruction book outlines in a clear manner how to make a shelf from plywood and screws - I would think that using a shelf unit would make the entire shed more solid. I will likely make a shelf in the near future. Again, great product, I am extremely happy with it! ... show more
