This is our 3rd version of a mattress pad from Sunbeam over the past 10 years. This version has much improved bedside controllers and having only the one cord makes the cable management easier. Functionally it's great, it's warm, has the auto timer for auto shut off and each side has their unique heat level. The only negative I have about this is the mattress plug. In previous versions this was underneath the mattress pad, one on each side. It was hard to notice even for someone tall. This new version has one plug in the middle-end of the bed. This sounds ideal and the placement is, but unfortunately it's on top of the pad and it's sharp! So the plug sticks out and is easily hit by rogue feet and it does not feel good. Wonderful product. It heats up quickly. Within 10 minutes my bed is warm enough to climb in. I have only needed to turn mine up to 6 so far. It keeps me warm in a room that is around 67 - 68 degrees. This mattress pad has changed our lives! Many of us recall the days of heated blankets but somehow the idea of a heated mattress pad (which actually makes far greater sense if you understand even the most basic elements of thermal dynamics :) had eluded me all these years. A colleague of mine mentioned it one day so I did my research and now I am in sleep-heaven each and every night. The control buttons are laid out well and the cord lengths are more than adequate allowing you to reach an outlet on either side of your bed if need be. I used a little square of double-sided tape to hold each remote in place on the inside corner of both end-tables on either side of our King bed. This unit cleverly recalls your last setting so your desired temperature setting & hours of use will be recalled the next time you turn it on. Also, there is a wide range of temperature control. I had major back surgery many years ago and had to use very hot heating pads to deal with pain and stiffness. I can get those temps from this unit and will do so for maybe for an hour or so after a long day, but then I'll dial it back to a very low number when I'm ready for sleep. My wife and I love this heated mattress pad and wonder how we lived without it. I highly recommend this heated mattress pad and would not change a thing about it. ... show more

This was a great addition. Having the bed heat from underneath rather than an electric blanket on top was a game-changer. Very cozy. Haven’t had it very long, so I hope it lasts but so far so good.

    • Works great, but a few gripes

So the main gripes I have with this are: -It didn't come in retail packaging, it was just vacuum sealed in giant Ziplock style bag. -It came without instructions, but is fairly easy to set up, but getting the controllers mixed up is too easy if you don't know how to set it up. But it is fairly simple, once you connect the cable to the pad, make sure you run it along the right side of the bed, that way the controllers will be with the appropriate side. -The cabling is set up kind of oddly as far as I'm concerned. the whole thing is one long cord. So there is the single plug into the pad, followed by 6-7 feet of cable, the first controller, 5-ish feet to the next controller, and then a few feet for the wall plug. So this all worked fine when I had it laid out incorrectly where my wife and I were controlling each others sides. When we fixed the controller locations the wiring impeded our ability for me to put my controller in a convenient place, it's basically under my pillow in-between my mattress and the wall. -I don't understand why companies who make devices for use while trying to sleep, make this very simple mistake. The backlight on the controllers is blue, and doesn't appear to be adjustable. It disrupted both my wife and I's sleep the first night and we had to flip the controllers over to stop the light bleed. -My last gripe is probably the one I have the biggest issue with. So it says it has an auto off feature, which it does, but it doesn't work like the auto off feature on one of their heated blankets that I owned. The blanket would shut the entire thing down, shutting of the screen as well. The cover shuts off the heat when the timer is up, but leaves the display on and lit until you actually shut it off. Those issues aside the heating works well and is comfortable, and it seems to get fairly warm, as when my wife and I had the controllers switched I set "my side" to 4 out of 10 and she was sweating to death, granted it wasn't really cold at the time. ... show more
