I really wanted this to work. I didn't actually use it. Brought it out of the box and it was heavy. I'm a 5'1" tall, 115lb woman who runs and weight lifts...and was able to carry/lift this BUT being on a long pole, the motor (heaviest part) being at the top and the long, much lighter pole, made it cumbersome to hold. The weight distribution made it difficult to maneuver...and this is with it off. I can only imagine it being on and trying to control it. Another issue is that the switch to turn it on was at the other end of the pole, so if you are shorter, with short arms, it is a challenge. I suppose that is why they provide a harness/belt to use. In the end, I wasn't comfortable enough to use it. Maybe I should try the smaller blade (I had bought the 21 inch),. ... show more

This has saved me a lot of trouble climbing up on a ladder and trimming hedges around my house. It is rather heavy at the top end so take that into consideration if you have a lot of trimming to do (as I do). I'm 220 and relatively fit and have about 75 feet of overhead trimming to do. I debated on this corded version or a cordless one. I chose this as I know the cordless version would not sustain the amount of trimming I have to do without having to recharge or replace the batteries. Would I purchase this again...yes! ... show more

When this came in I put it together and went outside and trimmed one bush for about 5 minutes as the temperature was 105 outside. I didn't put it away for a month and now that I've used it again within the first 5 minutes it stopped working and started smoking ! According to Amazon I have passed the return date and I am stuck with it ! ... show more

Used once so far and it was helpful to reach the tops of high bushes. I did most with my cordless trimmer first. If the plant is high AND deep, 2 or three steps up on a ladder will still be needed as was the case for me but it accomplished the goal. As many reviewers have mentioned, it does feel heavy with so much weight at the cutting end because of leverage but it is manageable if handled carefully. It is very solid and well constructed and can be used safely with reasonable focus and precautions. It cuts very well, thicker branches were no problem. If I had a lot of use for one I’d invest in a lighter, cordless unit but I’m happy with this for the low use/ low cost opportunity. ... show more

I bought this for my husband to use to trim our trees. He used it yesterday and it works great he said it was a little heavy but he just took a break when he got tired he is 71 years old. He will be taking it to our sons house to help him trim its trees and shrubs.

I bought this hedger because I didn't want to barrow my dad's chainsaw style one and break out my ladder to trim a few plants in my yard. Very happy with it after 4 uses and no ladder usage. using the extension pole to cut shrubs is more difficult than i thought. it works great except if your short like i am and a little older (high 50s) it is not as easy as it may appear. there is a shoulder strap to offset some of the weight but that sometimes came undone. So, the price was very good and it definitely paid for itself and probably hundreds more compared to hiring someone. but you need to be fit, strong and have some endurance. it is quite the workout! if i use it once a year, it will be an exceptional buy for me. ... show more
