I really like the fact that it is lightweight and small. The safety features are a plus also, as when you let go of the green handle it shuts off automatically. I had had gas mowers in the past and I could not pull the cord fast enough to get them started up and I would have to always call someone else to help me, Not anymore! With this machine You have to tilt it slightly backwards when you first start it up. The only drawback is the grass bag is small, and you will have to empty it out often if you have a large area to cut. But you can also use it without the grass bag also. It does come with the blade set to the highest position which was fine by me, as I don't bother with changing the positions of the blade on one. It was super easy to put together, too. all you literally have to do is put the handle on, and that is it. The cord clips are a bit hard to put on, but once they are on, they are on! The packaging was well done and very securely packed when It arrived. you can also use it without the bag, as I do. With as much grass as I have to cut the bag would fill up too fast and I took the bag off and left the top part on and it works much better for me that way. ... show more

    • Great little machine
When our gas mower died for the 3rd time, we were not interested in buying another small engine. We don’t have the time, energy, to desire to learn how to fix small engines. Immediately we looked for electric options. We already owned a SnowJoe (and loved it) so the Sun Joe seemed like a great plan. The mower works really well. It’s easy to manage if you have experience with cord management. It feels like vacuuming. We have a 1/4 acre of land and it’s fairly easy to get it all done. It went right through the tall grass no problem. It is much smaller than most other mowers so it takes longer to get the job done. The bag is small so we have to stop often to empty it.     • Extremely light weight and narrow
I bought the Sun Joe MJ400E 12-Amp 13-Inch Electric Lawn Mower w/ Grass Collection Bag for a very specific purpose, to mow the narrow pathways in a round garden I built over a decade ago. The paths are 24 inches wide but the radius of the circle is too tight to maneuver my 21 inch electric mower without damaging the dwarf boxwoods that line both sides of the path. This thirteen inch mower easily navigates the tight turns and is lightweight enough to lift it easily. It's so light weight that I wouldn't want to mow a hilly lawn with it, as it is easy to tip on a slope. It's perfect for the small job I bought it to do, however. A few complaints- Changing the cutting height is awkward. The mower must be unplugged for safety, then placed on its side. Each wheel must be adjusted individually, so you must move the front and back wheel on one side, then the front wheel on the other side. The two rear wheels are connected to each other, so you must turn the mower onto its top, grab both wheels, and pull against the spring that holds them in place while trying to stabilize the mower between your legs. Fortunately for me, Once I adjusted the wheels for the height I want to cut the garden path, I'll never have to reposition them again. My second complaint is that the handles are held on by four hand-tightened knobs. There's no quick-release or other mechanism for folding down the handle for transportation or storage of the mower. Third- the cord clamp that comes with the mower to hold the cord to the handle is too small to fit around the handle. It's not a major problem because the cord can be spiraled around the handle during assemble, negating the need for the clamp. As other people have noted, the catcher bag is quite small, so fills quickly. I haven't tried mowing without it (there's a spring-loaded door that closes when the catcher bag is removed) because the instructions don't mention a mulching function. If clippings don't blow past the door, though, the mower will be easier to use without the bag attached. ... show more

    • Surprising little powerhouse
So my only issues with this product is I wish I could raise the handle bar a 6" and they didn't honor the $20 coupon I had for buying the SUNJOE Giant Trimmer Powerful - cuts 4-5" grass easily Sharp - Cuts 4-5" grass easily and make a clean sharp looking cut that doesn't tear or chop. Light weight - easy to pick up and store on the wall. Quiet - If your plan is to piss off your neighbors that throw parties till 3 am by mowing at 6 am this won't do it. Very quiet. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT Grass clipping collection. This little machine doesn't hold an acre of grass, but you will be hard pressed to find any clippings left behind - No joke this thing picks up everything. ... show more

This little lawn mower is perfect for my small area! Very light weight and easily maneuverable for someone older like myself, and yet does a great job! Leaf catcher bag couldn't be more simple to use. Wonderful value for the price!
