Description

Reminiscent of the boomboxes of old, the SB2140TE is a portable stereo CD Player/Cassette Recorder with AM/FM Stereo Radio and Bluetooth Receive (in) and Transmit (out). The front loading CD/MP3 Player is convenient and sounds great. Bluetooth in for streaming music or other audio and Bluetooth out for listening through wireless headphones. This unit comes with an auxiliary input jack and headphone jack as well as a USB port for playback from a flash drive. Record to cassette from the built-in microphone, radio, CD, USB, aux-in or Bluetooth. Other great features include built-in stereo speakers, 2 VU meters, rotary volume control, 4" speaker x 2, 1" tweeter x 2 and light effect that synchronizes with music on speakers and tweeters. Add 10 watts RMS output power plus AC/DC power including rechargeable battery and you get a feature loaded boombox in a retro design for the ages.

I was skeptical because of all the nay sayers in the review section. This boombox is absolutely awesome! The radio, cd, tape, and Bluetooth all work great! The speakers are loud enough and sound great! I think some people are thinking they’ll be getting Sonos speakers when they buy this but that’s not the case. I have turned the volume to 50% on radio and its extremely loud, but clear! I absolutely love the design! It has that nostalgic look of an old boombox! Retro never looked so sharp or sounded so good. I love this boombox.The only two things I would change is have regular batteries over it's rechargeable battery. With a power outage regular batteries would be better which would last longer. The function buttons are very difficult to read (silver and black could be the cause.) You need to add some color or lighting to distinguish between functions which would make it stand out more. Make sure you use a USB flash drive which don't stick up too tall or the handle will bump into it when you carry the unit. The lights which flash in sync with the music is awesome. For the money I would love a little better sound but it works well enough for a large open floor plan. While tuning in radio stations is somewhat challenging, overall the unit works well and the ability to charge it and unplug for use outside or in another spot in the house is awesome. The mobility element of it is why i bought it. No chunky throw away batteries is a plus while it maintains a 4-5 hour battery life per charge. Bluetooth connectivity is a breeze. CDs and other digital media sound very good. The auxiliary input sounds just slightly better than Bluetooth. Even the cassette player sounds good, but the buttons for the cassette player are fragile. My record button has broken after three months. This is unfortunate, because the cassette records audio very well from CDs, auxiliary inputs, and the radio. Now I can't record with tapes any more. I'm still satisfied with the rest. This is the best audio player that will play almost any media type. I hope they improve the build quality on the cassette player. The rest of the stereo deserves that. Check out that broken button in my photo. Kind of makes all that chrome look pretty stupid, doesn't it? Oh, and the sound meter on the left was broken off the rip! If you smack the stereo, the needle will move again...until the next song. Then you gotta slap it again! ... show more

The CD player does not work. The buttons are pretty janky. The cheap plastic piece that adjusts the settings does not work well. When it is on the CD setting it does not acknowledge the CD player. You have to play with it for awhile and get it to balance between two setting spots to get it to go into the CD player setting. Then while playing a CD it will take itself out of the CD setting. It looks great. The sound is decent. The lights are cool. Just don't buy this if you have any desire to be able to play a CD on it. ... show more
