i have never owned one of these before so my expectations might be different than someone with experience using these. we live on a slab so the wires do not run how they used to at our older house. The device seemed to work well. i was hanging up shelving in our laundry room. so there are pipes and wiring everywhere (at least that is what i think). i was skeptical at first because i read some of the reviews. I tried it out in areas where i knew there were wires and i knew there were pipes. it detected them each time. so i started drilling hanging up our cabinets. I was semi confident in this device. i was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. though on one wall there was some texture. worked but not as well as when it was on a flat surface which is to be expected i would think. i had no issues finding the studs. though i am not sure if it was the center or not since i cant see through walls. i would definitely recommend this device. ... show more

First time usinf a stud finder. After reading the directions, I did feel like it was fairly straightforward but not quite descriptive enough for me. I have a weird corner section that has an extra squared off section and it has metal on the stud to create an edge. I had to reach out to someone else for help to figure out if that stud was usable and to decipher the results I was seeing Directions were not quite enough to get the job done for me. Maybe that is just my lack of understanding when it comes to what is located behind my walls? Not sure. But a solid A for everything else in terms of locating the studs and finding the center when it is just on a flat section of wall. ... show more

I will start by saying that I hate stud finders. They are always a pain. I’ve owned several and I’m aways disappointed. But this one doesn’t suck. We’re novice DIYers and this did what we needed it to do without a huge learning curve or a bunch of unnecessary holes on the wall. The included battery, alone, was enough to make me happy. It was easy to use and the center stud feature came in handy as we were mounting our TV. I’m not in love with all of the beeping, but overall it makes me hate stud finders less and made our project faster and with less swearing. ... show more

I calibrated it as per the instructions, set it on 1 1/2” mode and it found the centers of the studs perfectly. I’ve dealt with much less accurate stud finders which have been frustrating, this was definitely worth paying a little more for. The battery was preinstalled, so it was ready to power on upon arrival. My hang board was ready to go in no time, and it is dead quiet when i’m on it. Bomber! ... show more

Plugged in the battery and immediately started finding studs and wiring quickly and so so accurately. Works 1000 times better than my old black and decker garbage stud finder. It is still not perfect, and there is a slight learning curve but it works much better than my older one at a fraction of the cost. It still gives false positives at times, but it does seem to work well and it has 3 different wood settings which is awesome. It lets you put how deep you'd like it to check. This is very helpful as it is very needed at times when either everything is giving a false positive or nothing is registering.
