Description

String Festival Solos are economical collections of transcriptions by Samuel Applebaum. In two volumes for each instrument, the solos are in progressive order of difficulty. Each volume contains nine pieces -- all classic titles in the Applebaum teaching repertoire. Some of these have been hard to find. Volume I progresses from Level 1 to Level 2, Volume II progresses from Level 2 to Level 3. The solos are useful for teaching technique, dynamics, phrasing, and overall musicianship. String Festival Solos are excellent for recitals, auditions and performances for assemblies, concerts or festivals. Contains: The Bass Fiddle Waltz (Beyer) A Stately Dance (Hassler) March of the Giants (Brian) Two Jovial Dances (Kingman) Theme from Pomp and Circumstance (Elgar) Dance of the Wooden Soldiers (Lichner) Sarabande and Minuet (Handel) Menuet (Pleyel) Gavotte in Rondo Form (Dandrieu). A Federation Festivals 2020-2024 selection. Read more

  • Easy for a beginner
I have been playing about six months now and believe I can play or work my way through everything in this book. It has an instructional component also, not just a collection of sheet music. I wish the seller would have listed the song titles in the description but I am finding many do not do this. So here they are for you who like to make selections in part on titles: In May by Behr, The Blue Danube Waltz by Stauss,Smooth Sailing by Konrad, Kiss Me Again by Herbert, The Space Waltz by Streabbog, Dance of the Clowns by Beyer, Hobgoblin Dance by Biehl, Carnival by Couperin, Polka by Dancla. Most of these are not familiar to me, but I have played music that I have never heard before so that is okay. ... show more

  • You can do Better
The solos seem rather boring and don't measure up to other books of violin solos for beginning students.

  • I love this book!
This book is great for the adult cello beginner that wants to play a piece that is moderately easy. I am looking forward to diving further into these challenging but doable melodies and collaborating with my pianist friends.
