The quality of the wood and the two foam covered metal pieces that hold the instrument are fine, however, there are two black plastic spacers that are more decorative than functional, and the instructions do not mention at all where and how to use them, you just kind of have to figure it out ... while screwing in the top holder, before it got anywhere near tight enough to feel it would support a tenor sax, the black plastic spacer cracked in half. I should be able to fix it with glue, however, the cheapness of it and the lack of any instructions on how to use them or how carefully you need to screw in the two metal mount pieces is disappointing. They aren't really needed other than to cover the threads of the screw end of the metal mounts, but it takes away from the look of the stand.
