Description

The Pro Tac HL USB is a versatile tactical light that can charge from multiple sources and use three battery types: Streamlight’s P/N 74175 rechargeable lithium-ion battery, two CR123A batteries, or a proprietary Streamlight Li-Ion USB rechargeable battery pack. (See Battery detail below). This light will charge from a laptop or most USB wall chargers. Multi-battery versatility means you can always use primary disposable cells to power the light when a charging source is not available. Designed for use in all markets, it features a tail cap switch for momentary or constant on operation, three different user-selectable programs, and a pocket clip for convenience. The aluminum housing with Type II Military Spec anodizing helps make the light extremely durable and abrasion resistant. Packaged with a removable pocket clip and holster. Available in Black.

  • Great well-designed flashlight
Style: USB Rechargeable with 120V AC/12V DC Cha...
---INITIAL IMPRESSIONS--- So far I'm very impressed with this flashlight. It feels very solid (all metal construction). Having the ability to recharge this flashlight through the built-in micro-USB port is really nice. There is no worrying about burning through batteries. The included cigarette lighter USB adapter is a nice bonus as well. ---USB Charging--- The USB charging port is exposed by sliding down the part of the flashlight below the lens (but above the belt clip). When the USB port is covered back up, this sliding piece slides over a gasket to keep water out. When it's closed it feels very solid and secure. Inside the 74175 rechargeable battery appears to be replaceable with an 18650 battery - so it should work fine if you had to use it with CR123A batteries (though I haven't tried this). There is an indicator light that's red while it's charging and turns green when it's charged. Mine came with the battery completely dead - it took several hours of charging before I could use it. For some reason when I was trying to first charge it the red light didn't want to come on and the flashlight wouldn't turn on even after being plugged in for several minutes (I thought it was broken) - after being plugged in for about 15 minutes however the red light turned on and it continued to charge. Maybe the battery was just really dead. Also I've noticed that when the battery gets too low the flashlight seems to just shut off rather than getting dimmer over time. ---OPERATION--- I also like how the flashlight operates. Unlike other tactical flashlights I've had that cycle through the modes with each press of the button, this flashlight always cycles between on (full power) and off with each full button press. To activate the strobe feature, you quickly half press the button before fully clicking it. To activate the low power mode, half press the button twice before fully clicking it. While this procedure took a little bit of time to get the hang of, it becomes second nature pretty quickly. I rarely find myself accidently turning it on to the wrong mode. The operation I described above is the flashlight's default programming - but apparently the flashlight can be set so that one press is low power mode, half a press then a full press is medium power, and two half-presses then a full press is full power mode. Also the flashlight can be programmed so that only full power mode can be activated to avoid accidently activating other modes I assume. ---PERFORMANCE--- The high lumen output is the main reason why I wanted this flashlight. At first when I turned it on indoors it was bright, but it wasn't until I used it outdoors that this flashlight was really impressive. It's really great for lighting up large areas outside. I was impressed at how well it lit up everything while shining it across a parking lot. Though it isn't adjustable, I liked the focus of the beam. It wasn't too spread out and diffused but it wasn't too narrow either. I'd say the light itself is more yellow (warmer) than other flashlights I've used - but not as warm in color as an older style of flashlight with a filament bulb. The low-power mode is pretty dim and not something I will likely use much, but it's nice to have the option to conserve power just in case. I haven't really used the flashlight in medium power mode. Finally the strobe feature works very well. Comparing it to other strobe LED flashlights, this flashlight's strobe seems to be faster and more disorienting. ... show more

  • Best flashlight I have ever owned.
Style: USB Rechargeable with USB Cord
I ALWAYS carry a flashlight. I usually carry an O-Light S1R Baton II. One is always in my pocket. As great as the O-Light is for general day-to-day tasks like finding keys under the seat, or illuminating the ground in front of me to make sure I am not stepping on a snake, it is still a small flashlight. It’s best for those routine tasks that you often need something more powerful than the light on your phone.. When you need a more powerful flashlight, this streamlight is the one to get. As you can see from the photo, mine is well used. This light is always by my back door. I live in the country and it’s prudent here to see what may be in the front yard before I let my dog out in the evenings. During hunting season it always goes with me. Like I said, it gets quite a bit of use. Last year my son broke down and called me. I went there to wait for the tow truck and used the strobe function to alert vehicles (on Interstate 95) that we were on the shoulder. It ran for over an hour and vehicles could see it far enough away that they changed lanes and avoided us. I have also used the strobe when tracking a wounded deer. I turned the strobe on and was able to walk back to where I set it down. It made finding the blood trail easy. This is NOT a pocket flashlight for most people. It’s 6.5” long. This would be ideal for a tradesman or outdoorsman who needed a good dependable flashlight with excellent functionality. I have had this light for 5 years and I am just now having to replace the rechargeable battery. You will NOT be disappointed if you purchase this one. ... show more

Style: USB Rechargeable with USB Cord
This light is nothing short of amazing. I purchased it because we were going out of the country to a destination where crime had been on the rise and I wanted something that would be legal to travel with on the plane as well as the destination. I also wanted something that would deter/prevent an encounter rather than defend - and boy this was it. Long story short, we stayed in a rather large villa on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The nearest place to us was about 300 yards away up a hill. On the last day we started noticing that items were going missing and that night we came back to find a window opened that we knew we had secured. Thankfully there were many of us to go in two groups to search the villa to be sure no one was hiding. After we were sure there were no uninvited guests we began to unwind and, about two hours later, a person in our group went to their room upstairs to get something and when they came back down they happened upon two men with shirts wrapped around their heads going through a purse that was left out. That person screamed for help and the men ran out the door. We all ran upstairs and called the police. In two hours the police arrived (was pretty lax kind of place) and they looked around the house. I followed the one cop outside and he pulled out a flashlight to see if anyone was hiding in the shrubs/thick that surrounded the villa. It was a substandard light. As he was squinting to see only 50 ft away I pulled out my light and lit the entire area like a ballpark. Stunned, he turned around, looked at me then my light and, with an approving nod said, "nice light". We scanned the rest of the property and concluded the burglars were hiding on the one hillside and waited until we were all on the lower level before sneaking in. I don't know about anyone else, but I wasn't going to bed and three of us stayed up and talked until sunrise - and we scanned the property from a high vantage point in the villa every 10 minutes or so. Whoever was out there, wasn't about to come back and we felt much better with this kind of ability to light up the area at hand. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone who may be subjected to this scenario. On top of that it's just a great tool to have and the fun hasn't stopped there although this event was the time it was needed the most - and hopefully the last! Only problem I have had was when something in my backpack compressed the top of the holster where the actuating button was and kept it on in my bag. The heat from the light burned a home through the bottom of the holster, but caused no other damage - so be careful when storing - not because of the damaged holster, but because I would not have had a charge to use the light when needed had I not discovered the battery was fully discharged. GREAT PRODUCT! ... show more
