  • Excellent
Style: With AC/DC Steady Charger Pattern Name: Solid
This is an amazing tool. Very robust, reliable and strong. I love the features and benefits for this light - the three beam intensity settings, and the strobe. This thing is super durable and will take some bad abuse. I work in security, third shift and use this light virtually every night. I have had this light for almost a year and it still works very well. I've beaten on doors with it*, dropped it many many times, its gotten wet, been exposed to extreme temperatures and weather conditions and, at times I've used it daily for over a week at a time without charging it and, still it shines and operates reliably. It's got some scars on it... but functions flawlessly. I highly recommend getting a flashlight with a strobe. The strobe feature has two important functions: disorienting and temporarily blinding a hostile threat. And second, it is excellent for flagging down first responders. This light is very bright, and I am pleased with how far it will shine with an excellent balance between center, and peripheral illumination. My only complaint would be that I would like it to be even brighter to enable me to shine brighter through window tint that is 15% and lower. I can still shine through 5% tint, but I have to be up close and even then it only dimly illuminates a small spot inside. I'd like more tint- piercing brightness. However it does do well on tint that is above 20%. So if you're looking for an all around great flashlight, something that you can buy and rely on with confidence, a light that will last for years and years then the Stream Light Stinger DS LED c4 is for you. *( I stopped beating on doors with it after a few days cause I believed it could be detrimental to the battery - I don't know that it had any detrimental effect on the flashlight in any way- but It's not something I'd recommend or something that I want to continue doing.) ... show more

  • Streamlight 75813 Stinger DS C4 LED
Style: With AC/DC Steady Charger Pattern Name: Solid
I have been using this light for ~ 2 months and I feel confident in saying that it is the finest flashlight I have ever owned. The craftsmanship (fit and finish) are top notch and this is one bright flashlight. All of my MagLites and other LEDs haven't been turned on at all since I received this light. My father has a standard Stinger (Xenon) and upon seeing this light in action he immediately wanted one! The beam from this light is brighter and more crisp than the yellow Xenon beam of the standard model. It is impressive indoors, but really shines when outside at night. I am a big fan of the two switches and the 3 different brightness settings (not counting strobe). I also like the fact that you can operate the light without fully depressing the switch, great for quickly turning the light on/off without cycling the switch. Add in the fact that it is rechargeable and it gets even better. No more buying lithium 123 batteries in bulk for me. The only con I can think of is the fact that when the battery is low you will not have much warning that you are about to lose power. The first time I fully discharged the light I thought that I had broken it since it was working fine when I last turned it on, but when I went to use it again it was bright for 3-4 seconds and immediately dimmed and went out and would not turn back on until charged. But this seems to be common with a lot of high performance flashlights (my non-LED surefire did the same thing). If your job/life depends on having the light working all the time (e.g. law enforcement) I would put it on the charger anytime it isn't in use just to be sure it is fully charged. ... show more

  • Amazing amount of light
Style: With AC/DC Steady Charger Pattern Name: Solid
After carrying C and D cell mag lights for years, this streamlight is a great relief. I'm amazed at how much light these LED units produce, for the relatively small amount of energy and small size. In a public safety or law enforcement application there is just nothing more efficient. The multiple modes are a great addition, with the strobe being a nice tool. Mine came with chargers for both home and vehicle so there's no problem keeping it charged and ready to deploy without worrying about battery status. The holster is great for the tactical belt and does a nice job of keeping the light from getting beat up. Physically it doesn't make quite as good of a persuader as my old 5 D Cell Mag light, but I have other tools for that, so even tho it's an investment, I consider this to be a great value for the money spent. ... show more

  • the only light you'll ever need
Style: With AC/DC Steady Charger Pattern Name: Solid
What can I say that hasn't already been said about this light but WOW!!! I can't think of any reason or application that one would need another light than this one. I thought my Sure Fire Executive Elite was bright enough but there is no comparison. This light has a great "laser-like" beam that goes forever. And the peripheral light is more than adequate to light up the night. I do a lot of walking in the woods with my dogs and usually at night. My Sure Fire was good at spotting the eyes of many animals like deer, fox and other critters, but this light will burn their retinas. I just can't say enough good things about it. Not only is it the perfect size, not too heavy but mine also came with a wall charger and a car charger. Oh, and did I mention that I'll never have to buy another battery? And they aren't cheap. If you need a great light, look no further. This is the one. ... show more

  • Amazing Light!
Style: With AC/DC Steady Charger Pattern Name: Solid
For a few years, I liked cheap lights that were somewhat bright but had cheap materials and faulty switches. I had a Maglite 2D-cell - the alkaline batteries leaked and actually sealed shut! This Streamlight Stinger LED DS is an investment. It is longer and thicker than the original Stinger, as I found out when my friend offered his old belt holder. It is not compatible with old holders and I am still looking for one. The Dual Switches work independently and both are well built. There are 3 modes of brightness: Really Bright > Crazy Bright > THE SUN!. There is also a strobing effect to disorient someone or signal for help. It is meant to stay on a charger any time it's not being used. I am impressed with the quality of a single LED and the reflector inside. This is quality workmanship which I hope will last. ... show more

  • Awesome Light
Style: With AC/DC Steady Charger Pattern Name: Solid
Someone gave me one of these flashlights and I loved it. The light is bright, comfortable to hold, light weight, easily rests in you pocket, and comes with a convenient car charger. I dropped my light into Lake Lanier one night and I am sure the fish are still using somewhere in the 80+ feet deep lake. I did not hesitate a to go to Amazon and purchase another light, for a little more than $100.00. When I received my new light, it was already charged and I was "back in business" until I took off then end cap. The end cap was mis-threaded and it would not go back on properly. I ordered an exchange from Amazon and it was very convenient with their return/exchange policy and practices. I received my new light and returned the faulty one with no hassles; however, when I received my second one, the exact same thing happened except this time, the cap mis threaded as I was unscrewing it and it would not come off or go back on. I was gentle with it when I tried to unscrew it because I was worried about it, but it still snagged and got stuck. I called the Stream light company and spoke to their customer service, they told me this was not a common problem, but they have had a few complaints. Stream light told me to take the light to an authorized dealer to check the light, however, the closest one to my house is more than 40 miles away, so again, I exchanged it with Amazon and was sent a new light. I have had the second new one now for about a week, so far, so good... I think the light is Awesomely bright, I'd recommend it to anyone. ... show more

  • Solid flashlight all around
Style: With AC/DC Steady Charger Pattern Name: Solid
Great flashlight with a very intense beam. The beam is also quite far reaching, I don't have an exact number but I'd say it reaches a good 75-100 feet. I haven't tested the battery life but I would put it at somewhere around 3-4 hours on max intensity (there are three beam intensity settings, just press and hold the power button to access them). This flashlight also has a strobe function which is nifty although I'm not sure what practical purpose it serves. This flashlight is medium sized, being smaller but able to outshine other larger flashlights. One drawback is the inability to focus or tighten the beam. This isn't much of a drawback however as you don't really need to focus it because the light is already intense. It's also durable, I've dropped it several times, once on asphalt and it still works just fine. ... show more

  • 9 years later, here is my review
Style: With AC/DC Steady Charger Pattern Name: Solid
I purchased this 9-1/2 years ago when I started in corrections and decided it's been long enough to give an honest review. It's served me wonderfully in the 9-1/2 years I've owned it and used it often in a corrections environment. It has finally died after much abuse. I ordered a brand new light, but decided to go with the HL (High Lumens) version this time. After getting it I swapped the battery into this light and and boom, she is alive again! I now have a new battery on order. I'm assuming the battery is the problem, although I guess it could technically be the charging system in the light that is not working... but i'm putting my money on the battery. Now onto the light itself. I would not get the tail button again. In most cases the standard button is what I used... the tail button was just extra money that I never really use. The beam is NOT adjustable, but you can choose 3 light levels and also seizure mode (strobe). Now mind you, this is the "normal" version, not high lumens, but it's bright... very bright. The only time it didn't seem bright is when I put it next to a coworkers HL version. If I only had one light, I would choose this over the HL one. The HL doesn't last as long, gets warm, and irritates the hell out of inmates, because it's so bright that no matter where you shine it, they think you are shining it in their eyes. Yes, there is such a thing as TOO BRIGHT... for that reason, this is a better option if you are only gonna have one light. The light itself feels very solid. It's not heavy like an old D cell mag-light, but it doesn't have a cheap lightweight feel to it either. Think of holding a 5oz silver bar in your hand... substantial for its size, but nothing crazy. About 4 years after owning this my son dropped the light off a boat dock into about 10 feet of water. I was able to use a fishing net and scoop it out. Took about two weeks before it was back to normal. I thought for sure corrosion was gonna kill it in less than a year, but another 5-1/2 years later until the battery finally decided it's done it's fair share and that's it. Highly recommend. ... show more
