The Streamlight 75458 Stinger DS LED HL is a high lumen flashlight that provides 800 lumens of maximum illumination. Its wide beam pattern gives you a bright flood light that will light up the area around you, and the switches on the head and tail cap provide maximum versatility. Compact and extremely powerful, the Stinger DS LED HL rechargeable flashlights offer 3 microprocessor-controlled intensity modes, strobe mode and the latest in high power LED technology. The Stinger DS LED HL includes a second independent easy to locate tactical tailcap switch. The combination of rechargeable batteries and the LED results in one of the lowest operating costs of any flashlight made. 3 Lighting Modes plus Strobe. High for maximum illumination: 800 lumens; 310m beam, runs 1.5 hours, 24,000 candela; Medium for intense brightness and longer run time: 400 lumens, 219m beam, 2.5 hours, 12,000 candela; Low for extended run time: 200 lumens, 155m beam, runs 5 hours, 6,000 candela. 3-Cell, 3.6 Volt Ni-MH sub-C battery, rechargeable up to 1000 times. This light is solid for the money. I also have several surefire lights including the lawman r1. This streamlight stinger I really admire. It's quality built. It is 400 lumens lower than my lawman but it's not that noticeable of a difference. This light is blindingly bright. Love the tail switch and that all you do is hold it down to cycle between power levels. The one thing this light has over the lawman r1 is the readily available aftermarket parts available. For example, try to purchase an aftermarket oem battery for the lawman; its non existent. Without their proprietary battery you will only get 750 lumens from the r1. I have read nothing but raving reviews about the streamlight stinger family and I can see why. I have read a couple of negative reviews about a few stingers that failed but those are few and far between. I had to send in my lawman r1 for an internal electronics issue. Surefire sent me a new light but I'm just pointing out that any piece of electronics will have a certain percentage of units that fail. You will not regret purchasing this light. I Did purchase the piggy back model that came with an ac and dc charging cable set up. The only complaint is the charge time of 9 hours to fully charge a battery. Also the charger red light has no way of telling you that the battery is fully charged( will not blink -unless charging lithium ion battery - and does not turn color.) It comes with a spare battery already in the piggy back so you get 2 batteries already included so for the average citizen it should fulfill your needs. Also purchased a 2hour fast charger and one more nimh battery that should arrive this coming week. Will keep the fast charger in the car with the supplied dc cig lighter cable. Great setup for anyone in LE or security or just the average citizen looking for a great rechargeable flashlight setup. Pros Just the right size. Not too big or small. Will fit tucked under arm Comfortable handle Solid construction Dual switches Comes with a spare nimh battery(piggy back model) Included rubber anti roll ring protects bezel as well. This is our third purchase of a Streamlight product. Our 1st flashlight was purchased about 7 years ago. My husband used this flashlight so much we had to purchase 2 extra batteries about 2 years ago. With so much usage at home and at his work our battery charger finally stopped charging last week. He tried working without his flashlight for just a day while I looked at buying a new charger. Which turned out to be not a great day at work. Everyone was use to him having his flashlight because of the brightness. When working in confined places his light was always needed. When we got home I looked into the best options and decided that we were better off buying another flashlight with a charger and batteries. This way I would have one to use too. The flashlight is sturdy, shine bright, always dependable and lite weight so if I need to hold it for a long time while helping my husband I can without hurting my arm. Now, I have one at my fingertips and am always willing and able to help if my husband needs me to help. I hate to say this but, I really like the Dual Switch feature on the new flash light and want a new one like his. I really like knowing that we now have a flashlight we can depend on and that we are not throwing away a fortune on batteries. Living in the country our flashlight has helped so we do not step on snakes that might cross our path, finding our black lab when she decides to hide in the back of the pasture when she does not want to come in when I call her or seeing her chase a heard of deer in our yard. My 3 year old grandson uses the flashlight when he comes over to visit and due to the durability we have had no problem letting him use the flashlight to teach him the safety of shining it on the ground to see what is ahead of you, PawPaw and BB are not afraid the it will break.
