  • I love this flashl;ite
Style: 120-Volt AC/12V DC Charger/ 1 Holder Pattern Name: Flashlight
This flash light is VERY bright! When I purchased this light it was because i needed a light for my bike. When I used it for the first time I was thoroughly surprised! it was as bright or brighter than a cars headlights.! if there is one bad or concerning thing that I would mention is that it gets very hot if you have it on for long periods of time(like over ten minutes) not sure if this is a dangerous thing or not.. ... show more

I've used an older version of the Strion for over 1.5 decades. (It still works.) They are durable flashlights. Very well made. I have been really pleased with how much brighter the HL has been. It's worth the price.

  • Awesome light
Style: 120-Volt AC/12V DC Charger/ 1 Holder Pattern Name: Flashlight
I've had the light for a little over 2 years and it's been great. This last tour, had a call that required decon. I got back to the station, took off my uniform and put it right in the wash. I realized 3 hours later that I left the light on my uniform. Took it out and it worked perfectly. That's a tough, QUALITY product. ... show more

  • Buy it, you'll like it.
Style: 120-Volt AC/12V DC Charger/ 1 Holder Pattern Name: Flashlight
I've owned a number of "professional" flashlights over the years. My fascination with these products started while I was involved as a Sheriff's deputy in search and rescue at night on partially frozen lakes. What a difference a decent light makes for your own safety and finding what you're looking for! Hand-held flashlights have certainly come a long way since the days of the incandescent bulb and the much improved Xenon bulbs. LED's are the way to go (although HID has applications in certain applications requiring extraordinary power). This light is the latest edition of the duty light being carried by many professional users that like the Streamlight brand. It represents a substantial upgrade over the Streamlight Stinger product line in that the Strion product line uses Lithium Ion battery technology instead of the Nickle Metal Hydride technology used in the Stinger. The result is higher energy density which translates into more or longer light production for a given battery weight. L-Ion batteries also perform better at extremely low temperatures and don't self-discharge anywhere nearly as fast as most NiMiH batteries. So if you're leaving it off the charger for an extended period you're more likely to have a useable light 3 months later. The other important feature of this light is a newer generation of LED that produces 500 lumens on the highest of the 3 settings. This flashlight puts out more light than the headlights on my first car I bought back in the 70's. The beam is a moderately wide spot with a fair amount of light spillage outside the central beam. I find it a very useful pattern as it can be used to search out to 200 - 300 feet while spilling enough light so you can see where you're about to put your feet as you walk along with the central beam pointed forward. The tailcap switch works well once you get used to it. You can use the switch for a moment with a half-press or lock it on with a full press. It even has a strobe feature if you quickly double-click the tailswitch. It's a curiosity for me, but might be useful in certain law-enforcement situations. Unlike the old days where you had to remove the flashlight from your belt holster loop in order to sit in a vehicle, this light is small enough to stay in the holster. Yet it provides much more light than my first Xenon Streamlight. You can even carry it in a normal pants or jacket pocket. Size matters and this is the flashlight I use the most. (By the way, a holster is NOT included. I bought one from NiteIze that works fairly well.) The light comes with a nice secure snap-in AC/DC charger too. It's great if you don't want to fiddle with plugging in USB cables or need to mount in in a car/boat/ATV and not worry about it flying out of the charger when you hit a bump or jump a wave. ... show more

  • worth the price
Style: 120-Volt AC Charger Pattern Name: Flashlight
I bought my first strion hl several years ago, and its been a work horse. It's been knocked around a bit and is still going strong. We needed a second light (walking dogs at night in a very dark area) and by mistake I decided to try something different for one reason. I ordered a pelican 7070R that had a battery life indicator on it. the only single drawback with the strion is that it works, is bright as can be, but when the battery dies....it dies. the light does not get dim when the battery goes weak, it goes from bright to off, with no warning. The pelican was horrible. it barely held its charge and needed to be recharged much more frequently than the strion. after about two years the pelican was shot (I suspect battery failure). I just ordered a second strion hl. I know if I charge it on Sundays its good for the week, and really regret I ever wandered and tried the other light. I know I can go longer than 7 days between charges. but I think two weeks would be stretching it, and this pattern works out well for us. The strion also has flat edges around the bezel which is great for laying on a surface when working on something, and it does not roll away. it stays where you put it. My only minor complaint is that a battery life indicator would have been nice, but when I got the other light that had one, it was useless. It would stay green for one use, then maybe two more it would start flashing red which was the final warning before it died. when the other light died the first thing my wife said was 'get another one of these' which was the light that was older and still working fine. ... show more
