I purchased my original StreamLight Strion in 2016 (identical to this one). This is a Great Light! I use it constantly. I also have a Larger Streamlight for my Duty Belt. Recently a family member used and lost my original Strion. I saw this one on Amazon and ordered it to save money since I did not need a charger or holster. The original had the original battery and was totally bright and long lasting and dependable. Immediately I noticed the new one was not as bright and the battery did not last any time at all. The battery did not even heat up the light when fully charged so I ordered a new battery -- immediately it performed just like the original including heating up the light when used for more than a few minutes. Should have just gone to the Officer Supply store and purchased a new one (even with the items I did not need). Could have saved money. Must have been a really old Light and Battery since it did not hold a charged even for a day or two Still I emphasize that StreamLight makes a GREAT Product! ... show more

I used to use a Streamlight Stinger in private security; best flashlight I ever had. Somehow lost it over the years so I paid the price to get this model (Strion DS HL-74619). You can buy a cheaper light but it likely won't last like a Streamlight. I'd rather have a good quality flashlight. Law Enforcement and other services use these lights as well. A nice feature that this has that my Stinger didn't is 2 switches. The tailcap switch allows for tactical momentary or constant light. The regular switch near head of light is also multi-purpose with a strobe program. Made of Measures 6" in length and 1" diameter handle. Head of light is 1-1/4" in diameter. Comes with a USB cord which can plug either in usb port or provided 120v adapter. Also comes with car charger with lighter plug. 2 screws also included for mounting charging unit which is a "piggyback" (can charge 2 batteries at once). Comes with 2 Streamlight batteries (Part No. 74175). The only bummer is that while it says "Engineered in USA" it also says "Manufactured in China." I'm pretty sure my old Stinger was made in USA. Our exploitation of cheap labor to increase profits is going to bite us in the @$$ one day. What will happen is the U.S. Military will have their weapons and everything made in China. Then China, North Korea, Russia, Iran, & the rest of the Middle East that hate us will declare War on the U.S. They will have high grade munitions that are likely U.S. made while ours that is MADE IN CHINA will break apart like all those toys we buy our kids for XMas. I'm glad I am too old to be drafted for that scenario. I think I will write a novel about this, soon to be a Major Motion Picture streaming near you! ... show more

    • Tough little flashlight

I have used an original Strion that I modified to led at work daily for 15+ years. When the switch assembly failed and it stopped working a few months ago, I ordered this Strion DS HL. It's much brighter, a little longer , about the same weight and just as tough. So far in the last few months it's been dropped more than once on grass, blacktop and concrete without it skipping a beat. It's been caked in mud and fallen in mud puddles. It still works like the day I got it. I managed to get my original fixed free under the lifetime warranty so I now have both. I'm still using the DS HL as my daily without any concerns. The only negative I can say is that the battery doesn't last as long between charging but that could be due to being much brighter. Also finding a holster to fit it properly was not so easy. It's worth the money to have a quality flashlight that lasts for many years. ... show more

Had my old Strion for 15 years. It was great and did well under all conditions, snow, ice, rain, heat and everything in between. The new one is a bit longer and has a different finish, it's more matte and has a bit better grip because of the finish. It's bright!

This is a good durable light from a reliable company manufactured in a small frame. You can choose between high beam, strobe, medium & low beam by single tap, double tap or holding down the button. That is the factory default settings. The one flaw with this light is the hit or miss ability to program the light features you want permanently disabled or enabled with the 10 button tap feature. This was a hit or miss for me. I don't know if mine is defective but it was definitely not as easy as the videos online I found of people easily 10 button tapping to cycle through the programming options. After numerous attempts I was able to change the light to High beam only. After then deciding this option wasn't for me I had to frustrate myself further with many failed attempts to finally return it to the factory settings which I prefer. If I could not return it to factory settings I was going to return this item. All in all this is a good light. Unless you want to frequently change the the programming for what features you want to permanently disable or enable. ... show more

This is exactly what I was looking for. A daily-use flashlight that is really bright, rechargeable, fits nicely on my duty belt, and has excellent programming of the buttons. One of the things I hate most about many flashlights is the way you cycle through the low, med, high, and strobe effects. The strobe effect is completely useless 99.999% of the time and this flashlight keeps the strobe effect as an option when you need it but it's not in the normal cycle of low, med, high. I love that it has dual buttons. I can't speak about how long the charge lasts yet but the overall operation has me very pleased. ... show more
