  • Perfect EDC Flashlight
I have the original Streamlight Microstream that uses a single AAA battery and have been using it for years, with rechargeable AAA batteries. I was tempted to get the newest version that has a built-in rechargeable battery and micro USB port for charging but the only downside of the Microstream is its fairly short run time due to its small size. More times than not when I went to use it it would run out of power right in the middle of whatever I was doing. But then I saw the newer Macrostream and knew it would be the perfect replacement because it's only slightly larger and has considerably longer run time, and has the built-in micro USB charging port. I noticed some people complaining that it didn't have a USB type C charging port and I get it, but I don't think it's worth taking a star off just for that. It's nice that it's brighter but I wasn't really concerned about the light output since most uses for a flashlight around the house doesn't require anything super bright, just bright enough to see what you are doing, I was more interested in increased run time. I purchased some Streamlight headlamps in the past and was disappointed that the actual run time was much shorter than what was advertised. So I was pleasantly surprised when the run time on low for the Macrostream ended up being about 8 1/2 hours when I tested it and they claim 8 hours so nice work there. It has the typical solid build quality that I've come to expect from Streamlight and love the pocket clip that allows me to use it as a headlamp with a baseball cap, that has come in handy many times when it was much more convenient to have a hands-free light pointing right where I needed it. So even though the Microstream is smaller, this is still plenty compact and with its longer run time, to me it's the perfect everyday carry (EDC) flashlight for use in and around the house. ... show more

  • IT'S NOT USB C!!!! And works fine. Explanation in the review.
Update: Still feel the same way about a micro USB but if you think the thing is broken when you get it (I did) it's because you haven't figure it out. Tap the light (don't push) and it comes on bright. While holding it at that brightness, tap again and It will go to low power. When you have one or the other showing, press firmly and that's the light you will get. I had no clue what I was doing and came within a breath of sending it back. I apologize to the store and the manufacturer for being clueless. Updating to 5 stars. The bright is very bright the low power works well in low light. This day and age, I "Assumed" that it would be the, now, standard USB C. It actually micro usb! Go figure. I am half way tempted to return the thing because of this. I now have to dig into my old junk drawer to find a micro usb. Oh it is one good flash light. Just this old technology, for something this expensive, disappoints. The fact that it states it is a micro usb is besides the point. That info was buried. And I could have asked does it have X-Ray capabilities, but I KNEW IT DIDN'T. This day and age one should be able to just know it is now the current standard. Update: Dropped from 4 to 2 stars. When it started it had a low power and high. Now it only has high and that is sometimes. If the barrel gets turned, it will light at a press but won't stay on. If you turn the barrel, it will now stay on but only high power. The "barrel" I refer to is the "sleeve" that you push up to reveal the micro usb. What that has to do with it, I have no clue. Double press only turns high power on quickly. Certainly not worthy of the EDC tag. ... show more

  • Goes with me everywhere
Easily the best light I own. Never leave home without it. Incredibly handy to have for a quick look. The charging time is a bit long but the high output is worth it. Small enough to easily fit in a pocket.

  • Excellent EDC flashlight
This flashlight was a great buy. It is a very good EDC flashlight. It’s small enough to clip on your pocket and keep it there all day long without it being obtrusive. It’s bright with good battery life. I use it quite a bit and only charge it once a week. I never realized how often a flashlight comes in handy until I started carrying this one every day. It is well worth the price. I like that it has two levels of brightness. For close up work, the high level can be blinding but the lower level is very comfortable when up close. ... show more

  • Lasted 4 months with heavy use and abuse
Purchased the macrostream 4 months ago for 60USD total from Amazon with free shipping. Used the flashlight everyday at work until it stopped working today. Flashlight was one of the best edc flashlights I had used in a while. I found the momentary on and high low settings very easy and quick to use. The clip was very strong and has great pocket retention, sometimes after work I would mow 2 acres of bumpy hilly terrain and it would be there every time. The double sided clip allowed me to easily draw from pocket and clip it onto my hat for hands free use or sometimes even nearby wires, cables, sheet metal. The high mode was blinding for self defense and the low mode was perfect for inspection. The battery life was better than most and would last all day most of the time. Having one extra battery on hand would eliminate any battery life complaints, I did not carry one though. I dropped this flashlight A LOT no exaggeration, several times a week at well over the 1 meter shock test. Over the past week it started to flicker and I would have to tap it to get it to stay on. Eventually it stopped working. I took it apart and found that the led was shot. Overall I was very impressed with this flashlight and if taken care of I’m sure it will last the 30,000 hours /3.4yrs the led is projected to last. I will be purchasing a new one from streamlight on Amazon today and will try not to drop it. ... show more

  • Battery 🔋 totally DEAD Battery 🔋 totally DEAD
I SERIOUSLY dislike leaving reviews such as this especially for a product like THIS! I have always sworn by streamlite and will never buy anything else but streamlite but, when my battery dies in such a way that it cannot even recharge itself and it's only ONE MONTH pass the return deadline I'm not happy. Now I've got two choices, buy another, hope it works and send to bogus one back in a dishonest switch-around and take a full on strike against my personal integrity and honesty OR I see how it goes from here by posting my situation as such in order to see what streamlite themselves will do to an ardent customer of their serious quality products and I mean do mean that but just not with this one and I'm certain this situation is to be blamed on streamlite themselves but rather a stocked for too long product and a periodic battery that just wants to not wanna work after hardly 10 hours of use. I love the difference in lumens this light has but it's a little bulky having it hang from my T shirt or wife beater but great to have in my bag and CERTAINLY useful to have when my other two 250 lumen micro steam lights are either on charge or being toyed with by my kids. I doubt this review will remain 1 star for long because streamlite is just that good and I know it so let's see if any of those other negative reviews have any merit to them because, I'm not sure. ... show more

  • The best little pocket flashlight ever.
This light is so nice and bright, easy to carry in your pocket, last a very long time. I take my Golden out for walks at night and this little light is so light and fits in your hand easy not bulky and the battery life is great. All my other lights have to many options such as flash and code flash before they even turn off. This one is perfect off and on. I have yet to have it go dead yet. We are usually out for well over an hour and this light just keeps shining. The dim option is great for when you don't want the real bright light plus it saves battery life when its on dim. Push on, double push dim and push off. Simple and light plus very tough! My son uses this for his work and always has it in his pocket. I used it a few times and loved it so much he got me one as a gift and it truly is a great light. Fantastic light from a great company that has been around for years. Streamlight is the best. I still have the original Streamlight pen light from years ago that takes AAAA batteries it just keeps working year after year. Keep lighting the world Streamlight! ... show more
