Description

The Quentin Tarantino movie that never ends! An epic crime drama featuring a large ensemble cast—for fans of Breaking Bad, The Wire, Pulp Fiction Beginning in the 1970s and carrying on into the 1990s, Stray Bullets is a period crime drama with moments of humor and absurdity. David Lapham’s crime noir masterpiece follows the lost lives of people who are savagely torn apart by events beyond their control: The innocent world of an imaginative little girl is shattered when she witnesses a brutal double murder. An introverted young boy on the verge of manhood gets a lesson on just how far is too far when he falls for a needy woman who lives life in the fast lane. Or party with a pair of low-rent hoods who learn what is really important in life just when they shouldn't. What makes Stray Bullets so brilliant is that it’s a crime comic, but it’s also about growing up, about being frustrated with your lot in life, about the disappointment of settling down, and the mundanity of suburban life. Lapham shrewdly presents almost every type of criminal behavior imaginable in stories that can be both unflinchingly honest and heartbreakingly sympathetic. The almost Altman-esque mix of characters provides seemingly endless pathos and drama, and there is a level of realism to the violence that makes it truly startling. If movies like Oceans 11 are about the sexy allure of the criminal worlds, then Stray Bullets is about the desperation and rage of characters whose lives are ultimately defined by a series of bad choices. The Stray Bullets: Uber Alles Edition collects the original five story arcs of this iconic crime comic book series together for the first time in one massive, 1,200 page volume. "The Innocence of Nihilism," "Somewhere Out West," "Other People," "Dark Days," and "HiJinks and Derring-Do" appear in their entirety. Collects Stray Bullets issues 1-41. Read more

  • One of the best comics you could possibly buy
This has to be one of the best comics ever written and I'm not even going to bother getting into how difficult certain issues or TPB's can be to find. This is a killer deal for the first 41 issues and the artwork looks amazing. There were some fingerprints on some pages of the copy I ordere from Amazon before I even touch certain pages, but overall great quality print. I read a review that said the spine binding fell apart in their copy, so I was extra careful with mine but never had any issues or even close to binding issues. ... show more

  • Remarkable graphic novel series!
A remarkable graphic novel series - very dark but beautifully written and drawn. Even more powerful to see in such a large omnibus edition - where separate stories feature different characters at various times in their life. Definitely one of the more important American graphic novels to come out in the last 30 years! ... show more

  • Brutal, awesome book
This is gruesome, horrific, disgusting, and I love every single page. David is such a talented writer, and if you ask me he is under rated. This arrived in perfect condition, and I love everything about it. 10/10

  • I've read it three times since purchase and it's just as good each time
For years I have picked up issues of Stray Bullets wherever I could find them. They weren't cheap. They all disappeared in a move and I was so excited to find this book. I've read it three times since purchase and it's just as good each time. Great series with beautiful art.

  • Fantastic collection of a very grim crime saga
Fantastic collection of a very grim crime saga. At first you enter the series a little disoriented, as the story jumps between times and settings, but shortly after you begin to pick up on who the main characters are. Don't expect to have your spirit lifted by the story, as it is all about bad people and bad events. It's well written and drawn, although at times action gets lost in the black and white panels, and occasionally it can be hard to recognize which character is which. If you are a fan of comics, this is worth it. ... show more

  • True Crime nostalgia
I dunno; “dazed and confused” & “pulp fiction” had a baby. Perhaps that’s too lazy, but I’m sticking with it. My description in no diminishes what’s accomplished here, it stands on it’s own and doesn’t disappoint.

I have all of the individual issues, but wanted to grab a compendium for easier reading. The book is a little big, but it is worth it. Stray Bullets has to be one of my favorite stories and I would recommend any comic lover picking it up.

  • uber good!!!!
Wow!!! I don't usually have time to read but when I read I just can't let go of a book. This compilation is perfect for me because there is so much depth in each story that it feels like you've read a novel. I'd get this if I were you!
