I am beyond happy that I ordered this for my husband! He’s a bit bald now, so we have many experiences of his head getting cold when riding in the car. When I saw this, I knew it was the answer for his dilemma! I took a chance and ordered one size down from the largest since he does have a rather large head and it fits perfectly. Not only is it absolutely perfect and adorable on him, it’s made in the USA❤️❤️❤️. We really try to support our USA business's when possible. it’s easy to do when the product is superior to all others! It has a good amount of weight to it since it is warm, but it’s not too heavy to cause discomfort. It’s soft on his head and not itchy in the least. Every bald head needs one of these hats!

This is my fourth stormy kromer. From the Midwest and anyone that goes North can tell ya that the hat is a classic. I tested the hat outside for an hour walk in Chicago (windy as always). Not only does the rancher keep your head really warm (I’m also bald) but does a pretty decent job of blocking the wind. See photos of the difference in degrees for the top of the head vs ear flag. The advantages: This hat is warm, don’t think I would wear this above 30F. To compare I also added photos of my classic (red) kromer. The rancher does a full ear cover with a nice warm material and is very padded with insulation. This hat always gets a call out in the city from folks who also are northerners. The drawbacks: Simply the sizing. My red classic kromer is a 7 1/8 and this rancher is a 7 3/8. No way I would of guessed the differences here. I tried this hat on in the summer at Duluth Pack in Duluth MN and was shocked how large I had to go to get a hat that fully covered my head (again, bald so no lettuce adding to sizing issues). Conclusion: this is a wonderful and warm hat. I would purchase another just to leave in the automobiles. If you’re looking for a “hat” this is the perfect hat and performs well in the cold. If you want ULTIMATE warmth get a full mask toque. This does cover the ears but not like a tight covering. Odd to say I’ll end up with 5 of these one day but passing down a piece of Midwestern heritage full of stories is something I treasure.

This hat is awesome
I ordered a Blaze orange Stormy Kromer ranch hat for deer rifle season in Michigan because it gets very cold here that time of year, and it is the best cold weather hunting hat I own. My head has never gotten cold with this thing on. What I don’t like about traditional beanies or trapper style hats is they significantly reduce my hearing and they have no bill to shield my eyes. The Stormy kromer doesn’t affect my hearing and the bill can be used to block the sun or snow from getting in my eyes. There been plenty of times it wasn’t cold enough to need my ears covered and this hat easily folds up off my ears when not needed. I’m going to be getting another one in camo for bow season that’s a little lighter weight because the weather is not as cold during that season. The only thing you should do is order up a size from your usual fitted hat sizing. I normally wear a 7 1/2 so I ordered a 7 3/4 and it fits perfect. You’ll love it, order one.

Color is an awesome neutral grey that matches with anything. Sizing was perfect based on the chart. Feels like a hat that will last a lifetime. It has worked wonders in below freezing temps and I love the ability to flip the flap up in warmer conditions. On sale, can’t beat it!

Warm head & ears

Love it ! As advertised. Bought size 7 3/8 . I like it not to tight , was a hesitant to buy next size up. Called company and told them my measurement was 23” was in between 7 3/8 or 7 1/2. I think it will stretch some .

this is a warm hat stormy kromer style it definitely will keep you warm when snow blowing your driveway in the winter. I like the ear flaps a lot the fit was little snug but other then that great little hat if you like this type of design

After reviewing all the styles and reading the reviews of Stormy Kromer hats I decided on the wool Rancher style hat for winter conditions in N.E. Ohio. I measured my head and thought I should order a 7 5/8 but to be sure I called a Rep at Stormy Kromer and she recommended a 7 3/4 because I was between sizes. The hat arrived and fit so perfect, the way it’s made with six panels and short bill it will sit on the crown of the head and come to fit snugly above the ears with the ear flaps neatly held up in place by a tie until needed. This is a true cold weather hat and I feel the best fitting and most comfortable I have ever worn.
