Replaced my binders with these boxes - space saving

I love these. They fit into smaller spaces and they also stack well. I do a lot of writing and they are perfect to separate topics and in-work vs. finished works. I always print a copy of anything important because technology changes quickly and I don't want to worry about not being able to access something I wrote 10 years ago, or just outright losing a piece due to a computer glitch. I also prefer storing in this way to on the I-Cloud for privacy's sake. I backup my work on the computer with external storage devices, but printing a copy gives me a sense of calm that technology can't. I print out labels to go on the side of the box that will face outward. They will fit 8x11 papers, as well as sheet protectors, and folders. Of course, they would work well for other things, especially if you need a visual check for what type of things you're storing before retrieving a box. Neat, organized and sturdy storage for my crafts.

These work great for storing the madness that is my rainbow loom band mixes. They stack nice and neat on my shelf. The lid clips have held well to several falls from my clumsiness. The chaos continues to be contained. If I get more rainbow loom bands or art supplies, I will buy more.

What I really like about these sturdy boxes is how easy it is stack a lot of different sizes neatly. (See photo.) Because they stack so neatly, I am considering using them to help organize my garage as well. Overall, I am happy with these. The sides don’t angle as sharply, and the edges aren't overly-rounded; the more rectangular shape looks tidy and gives you a more internal space for the same on-shelf footprint. I also like the clips a lot. I have several boxes for which you flex the lid to snap it on, and these are much easier to take on and off a shelf one-handed without having lids pop off at awkward moments. I have attached a photo to give you an idea how big these are relative to each other, and to demonstrate the wonderful flexibility these boxes are! Showing on the right from bottom to top, two each are: deep, large, medium and small. On the left are two of the medium topped by one small. As you can see, two medium & smalls fit perfectly on top of a large or deep. Two larges are exactly the same height as one deep, and two smalls are exactly the same height as one medium. Note, however, the mediums are not quite as tall as the deeps, and the smalls are not quite as tall as the larges. (I did not pick up a mini, but based on the dimensions I would guess two would fit side-by-side across the top of the medium/small lid, or four across the large/deep lid.) The medium is about three inches shorter and about one inch taller than typical shoe-box sized boxes, for me this is fine, I like the modularity with the other boxes enough for this to be a good trade-off. In some cases, I actually prefer it. The large, as others have mentioned, are just the right size for about a ream-sized stack of 8 ½” x 11” or A4 papers, with enough room to spare top & sides to easily access such a pile. The deeps could also hold papers, but I won’t be using it that way. (If I am going to stack enough papers to fit into that big of a box, it is not only heavy, but I am probably violating whatever organizational principles prompted me to buy it in the first place.) Neither are quite large enough for a file folder to fit – the protruding label of a folder gets in the way. The deep… I didn’t realize it when I grabbed these, but this is exactly the right height for a CD! I can fit two rows of CDs with a few tucked in sideways. I got ~45 CDs in. There will be a bit of lost space, but it is really hard to find cost-effective storage. For the CDs, a couple of cubic inches isn’t such a big loss of space that I can’t handle it for the price, especially given clear top & sides and how much more sturdy this appears to be than some of the more expensive options. (And yes, I do still buy CDs, the reasons for which are outside the scope of this review.) In terms of strength – I would suggest you keep it light to medium, the plastic is sturdy, but I’d hesitate to load them up with heavy items and then stack several up. I’d consider a more heavy-duty option for that. Not my first purchase. Sturdy, so I'm back for more with one caveat.

This size box serves me well for storing art bits and pieces for my sculpture assemblages. I also use one for related parts of a specific art piece while I'm putting it together. They're very sturdy and nicely stackable. While I label all my storage boxes with white artist's tape, the fact that they're clear makes spotting what I'm looking for much easier. NOTE: The original blue handles I've had appear to be phasing out and I found ONE that was almost as expensive as this six-pack with the new color handles. (Give me a break. The blue handled ones are hardly "collectible antiques.") So if the color change to a greener shade concerns you, you may not think this is a 5-star purchase. For me? I don't care about the color of the handles. I care about the fact that they're secure. ... show more
