I got this for my 3 year old. He can open and close it by himself. The color really does change in the rain! I like that the little points on the ends of the canopy part have little covers on the ends, so there are no sharp points to worry about. Perhaps my kids are just not gentle enough with umbrellas, but this one broke already, after not even a whole season. He used it as a cane on the street (when folded up) and it bent the top knob right off right away, and that’s what holds the umbrella’s tension so now it doesn’t open properly.
