  • Better than the Rival 3
Size: Wired Style: Rival 5
I bought the first Rival the week it came out, I used it until beginning 2021 when the rubber bits were completely worn off and cheeto dust was imbedded in the size buttons and scroll wheel started working backwards, skipping, moving when I didn't even touch the mouse... then not at all. The point is, it was built like a brick and I put it through like 6 years of torture. I bought a Rival 3 to replace it, busted out the box, bought a second one, busted in a week, bought a 3rd one, size buttons fell in and tore themselves off the board and were unfixable, but I was past warranty and used it until a couple months ago when I bought this Rival 5. This one is pretty loud, but feels great in my hand, much larger than the Rival 3 (piece of garbage). This is a wired mouse, not wireless. GG engine is very easy to use, I have never had problems with that, I use it for Arctis 5 headset as well. The only thing about this mouse for me personally, is that I have not used the flipper button on the side, I use the other 3, 2 black buttons and a silver one all the time. I don't know what use the flipper button could even be, but I tried to use it, and my hand seems to pick up the mouse when I move the flipper up and even just pressing it down doesn't feel ergonomic to me. I love the customization on this mouse though and I really recommend it. It has all the features you want and extra ones you may not, but you don't have to use them. The price is not bad, but $60 is pretty close to razer mouse prices, so just compare this to the deathadder or whatever its called and then make your decision. Don't buy a rival 3.... seriously! ... show more

  • Awesome budget gaming mouse that doesn't feel budget!
Size: Wired Style: Rival 3
I've tested many gaming mice at all price points and at $30 (or on Sale) the Rival 3 is a easy recommendation for those who want a really good gaming mouse that doesn't break the bank. Pros: Great build quality! Absolutely no rattles or creaking on my copy Good weight (not the lightest, but still plenty light enough for me) Main buttons and scroll wheel all feel great Good mouse feet that glide well right out the box Cool implementation of the RGB Easy to use software to customize the mouse (Steelseries Engine 3) Good overall performance even though this doesn't use a high-end sensor. I found the TrueMove Core to perform without issues the only caveat being slightly higher LOD One of the best shapes for claw grip Cons Rubber cable is OK could have been lighter though Side buttons are thiiiiin! This is a bad design shared across the whole Rival 3/Aerox 3 family of mice. They are some of the worst side buttons I've used. There's actually a lot of great budget gaming mice nowadays and if you like the shape especially this will be one of your best options. ... show more

  • Solid gaming performance, but lacking in battery life.
Size: Wireless Style: Rival 3
Overall, the actual performance is very solid, especially for a wireless mouse. It is responsive, accurate, and very comfortable to use for long gaming sessions. There are occasional signal interrupts, but they are brief and uncommon. My big complaint is the battery life. The "400+ hour battery life" claim is very misleading. To achieve 400 hours of battery life, you will need to use "High Efficiency mode," which drops your polling rate down to 125Hz. At these settings, the mouse becomes almost completely unusable with the cursor skipping across even when simply browsing around your desktop. Very solid mouse overall, but you can reasonably expect 100-150 hours of battery life on a pair of AAA batteries. Happy gaming! ... show more

  • WINNING!!! LOVE IT!!
Size: Wired Style: Rival 3
I wish I would of bought this mouse a looong time ago and even paid 30 bucks and now just18 bucks feels like I'm steeling it...HAAAA!!! The quick story is - by far my favorite mouse I've ever used! Detailed story -- I'm way older now and lost count of how many mouses I bought over the years, put it this way, I started playing Diablo when it first came out. So that gives you an idea of how many mouses I've been through, mostly stuck with logitech, but many other off brands too, and was always eyeballing the steelseries, and almost bought one last round but then I found some crazy cheap deal and decided to go with it, Boy am I kicking myself in the behind now, and thank you for the price drop, because this mouse feels like it was custom made for me. Keep in mind I'm average size person 6ft 190ibs average size hands I guess we can say, and as you can see in the pic it's my perfect hand size....perfecttttoooo! And I know I'm in a treehouse and using it on a barstool, but I've had a 100 mouses and none fit this perfect, feel so solid, with buttons that quietly give a perfect push and feedback, I've played with my buddies that pay crazy prices that I would never consider paying just to save a few grams....and I still like this one way better! All I can say is sorry steelseries, I wish I went with ya sooner, but we're connected now and I'll be a loyal fan. OHHH wait wait wait, I was so excited about that perfect fit, how could I forget to mention how freaking cool this lil light show is at night up in the tree-house, there again not overkill just perfect cool looking display! Thanks much steelseries for so much excitement in a mouse...HAAAA! CHEERS MATES!!! PS: YES, I would recommend this mouse! ) ... show more

  • 15 months of good use. I wish it didn't break
Size: Wireless Style: Rival 3
I got 15 months out of this mouse before the left-click plastic broke. Instead of replacing it, I decided to try out a low-cost wireless/wired gaming mouse. Pros: Low cost Wireless Software to change mouse settings is really useful (Including customizing to use less battery-intensive settings) Cons: Batteries are annoying to change no matter how frequent ... show more

  • Overall good product, only below two cons from my view (why I stopped using it 1 year later)
Size: Wireless Style: Rival 3
1. Battery life too short, in wireless mode (didn't test in Bluetooth mode) no matter how heavily you use it. It needs battery change every 1 week or less. 2. Scrolling wheel becomes erratic, it's a common issue of mouse, but I mean it happened too soon. (Easy fix by disassembling and cleaning the scrolling wheel part. Found a short hair there impacting the wheel, so this might be my own specific issue.) ... show more
