So, copped this due to its close resemblance to a Seiko “Captain Willard.” Saw that the reviews were mostly positive, and the price was very reasonable, so I added this one to my collection without much expectation. Upon receiving, I enjoyed that it came inside a protective little case (no Pelican case of course.) more importantly, it came with an adjustment tool! I loved being able to size it right out of the box. Have worn it almost everyday since I got it. It is well weighted and honestly looks very sharp. It honestly feels nicer than some of the Seiko’s I own, that are double the price. The automatic movement is a plain Jane NH35, so it’s easy to set and track. This watch seems pretty accurate and winding it is very easy. The Lum on it is brighter than most my Seikos as well. I love this watch. I don’t worry about wearing it, but I’m glad how many questions I’ve gotten about it. I’ve honestly thought about buying a few more just to have as gifts for special people in my life. Only downside is the watch wears pretty large. I have a large wrist, so it works for me. I wouldn’t buy this if you have a smaller wrist. Might be a bit too much! Other than that. This is an amazing buy. Seiko movement, nicely finished case, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel - what's not to like? I was skeptical at first, but I really am amazed by this watch. I am remain skeptical of its water resistance rating, but for real I use my Casio for that purpose. Buy one, you'll be amazed at the quality and overall value! ... show more

For the price keeps absolutely amazing time. I wear it daily so it's wound pretty much daily, every other day or so I unscrew the crown wind it about five times screw it back in keeps nearly perfect time. The first couple of weeks I had it I'd unscrew the crown in the morning wind at five or six times screw it back in I noticed that it was actually getting like 5 seconds faster according to the clock on my cell phone. So I stopped winding it daily and just switched to every other day. Keeps as good a time as any quartz watch I own. I changed the band I don't like stainless bands, I put it on one of the rubber bands. It is a bit heavy you will definitely notice you're wearing it. I've had a few people comment on it, but I wear it towards the inside so nobody really sees it. I don't wear a watch for somebody else to see I wear a watch for me to see. It is a cool looking watch, everything's really smooth no rough edges, the ceramic bezel turns nice. Everything lines up. The illumination is great it is three different colors which is kind of odd but I can go to bed 11:00 12:00 lights out three four hours later wake up I can read my watch. Got a couple other automatics seiko's and a Casio and an Invicta I believe it is that uses the Seiko movement. I like the way you can hand wind it. That's really convenient. Back to the illumination. This thing's amazingly bright way better than any of my other watches I've got a bartucci that's really bright but nowhere near as long-lasting as this one is. I have a drawer full of watches (nothing expensive) and wanted to add the Captain Willard as an everyday watch. The looks, sapphire crystal, band, lume, and readability are all very nice just not as accurate as my other NH35 movements, but I think within specifications.

The media could not be loaded. No one should come into the expectations that this is going to have the fit and finish of a +$400 watch from Seiko. However, This watch selectively chooses what it puts its best attributes into. The dial, crystal, lum and bezel are extremely well done well beyond its price point and even better than some higher price points. They achieve this by cutting corners on the case finishing in the areas that aren't obvious to the eye. Such as where the bracelet connects and the hidden underside of the case were it transitions into the side chamfer is abrupt in appearance but neither of which affect the comfort of wear. The bracelet is also a cost cutting factor the links are not tightly machined together and seem a little loose compared to a high quality bracelet as well as the finishing is not as refined but it did include the milled clasp. None of which are deal-breakers for what this watch is and no one should have unrealistic expectations for a $100 automatic. Overall, this is a great watch, especially for people that work in more harsh environments and don't want to scratch up or destroy their expensive automatic watches. The ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal are welcome features for a watch that's going to get beat up. I like the AR coating with the subtle blue tint. The lum is brighter initially than a Seiko lumabrite, but the lumabrite seems to have more endurance. This is a great workhorse automatic. The "Captain Steel" ... show more
