Description

Cottage Mills was started in 1991 by Paul Foght with a focus on the craft and scrapbooking markets. His son Jay was his first employee, although he later left the start-up to become a product manager for Fiskars and Uniek. Jay returned to Cottage Mills in 2004 to take over the business. I had been looking for something that would help my machine not rattle so much as I was using it. I come across this product and for the price, not only do I have one for my machine, but have one for my serger as well. The next time I use my serger I will be using the smaller mat. There is just a slight decrease of noise when I am sewing on my machine. The quality of the material for the mat is great. I made brownie points with this order! My wife has a sewing machine and serger. They kept moving around her sewing table as the vibrated while in use. She installed these under them and she says they are heaven. I also or red her the foot pedal pad as well.     • Sewing machine stopped jumping

I have Singer Heavy Duty sewing machine, and I couldn't sew fast on it because it started jumping together with the table. I live in an apartment building, so it was unacceptable. When I purchased my serger, I was seriously concerned about noise, so I found these mats. I decided to buy a pack of two: for serger and sewing machine. That was the right decision! My Singer stopped jumping no matter how fast I want to go. Plus, sewing machine is no longer sliding over the table (which I didn't pay attention to, but now it's so nice that I don't need to reposition it all the time). When mats came, I realized that my serger didn't fit on the small mat with extension table (Brother ST), so I gave it the big one. Surprisingly, my sewing machine fits perfectly on the small mat. I so needed these to keep my sewing machine from sliding all over the table. It now stays put and the mat is easily moved if needed. I can’t speak to the noise cancellation because my machine is not at all noisy. These would make a wonderful gift for a quilter. I love these mats.

I ordered the 17 x 36 mat to place under my Brother Luminaire, with the embroider module attached. It fits perfectly. It does dampen both vibration and sound. I also ordered a two mat set for my serger and a secondary sewing machine. Works great. The only word of caution I’ll offer is, when I was cleaning the mats before use my damp cloth was picking up yellow residue. It eventually subsided but that may be a consideration if, like me, your sewing surfaces are white. ... show more
