Works just as advertised. I was surprised. It seems well made with a water repelling rubberized coating. Matt black finish and magnetic flaps that adhere to itself. Quick and easy to install and remove. The shield wedges between the spring loaded phone bracket and the controller. The phone then attaches normally. The shield blocks a considerable amount of direct sunlight, as seen in the attached photo. (The cell phone screen is actually brighter than what my camera captured.)

The sun shade is a good size and shape to shield my larger phone and the reflective protective film on the screen. Necessary to avoid glare, this makes it much easier for me to keep a good eye on details and not see massive reflections while flying. Helpful for larger Plus phone sizes, and has nice ports for connections on either side of the shade interior. Very helpful, and would recommend for anyone looking for a quality and affordable shade

I had the unit out in the sun for the first time and decided I needed a shade. I'm prone to DIY for something simple like a hood but in this case, I decided to purchase the Startrc after reading the reviews. I found the hood to be well made. There are magnets to hold down the front lip of the hood at 45 degrees. I used it in the worse of conditions, out in the desert midday, bright and hot and the hood worked great and allowed me to see the phones screen, a Galaxy S6, perfectly. The material feels rugged enough to hold up to normal wear and tear. The edges are welded, not sewn, and appear as strong seams. I've read someone complain they did not like the 45-degree lip and I'd have to agree, however, it easy just to lift the lip and it will stay horizontal. See the attached picture. An improvement would be to add another set of magnets or a pocket to be able to set the flap horizontal There were no instructions provided but it was easy to figure out. To install the hood and phone, I lifted the controller's antenna/phone holder and insert the hood so the holes in the top lined up with the clamp. The antenna/clamp has to raise quite a bit more to house the phone so I then slid the phone in at an angle while pushing up on the clamp with the phone until the phone locked in place. I used a Galaxy S6 Edge. The hood is very very secure as it's wedged between the phone and the clamp. The gimbal wheel and the Start Video buttons are still easily accessed with the hood attached. The hood is great, but I thought it was a bit pricey and that's the only reason to hold back 1 star.

This product is lightweight and easy to use. I like how it folds flat so that I can store it easily, it was a little tricky to build the first time but once I knew what I was doing I managed to mount the hood with no problems. The material is pretty heavy duty and I love the black design, which has a cool, soft, matte feeling. This is great value for money and does exactly what it says on the box.

I bought this mostly with the intention of keeping my phone shaded from direct sunlight as my iPhone has been overheating while flying my DJI Air2S. I tried attacking this problem by putting my phone on do not disturb mode, low power mode, and making sure the controller isn't charging my phone as I'm flying as that all creates more heat. I also bought this sun shade. Even with all of these things put together, my phone still overheats. I will be spray painting the outside of this cover a glossy white to see if that helps reflect heat away from my phone. As far as a sun shade, it does work ok but I'm realizing I probably should have ordered one of the longer/deeper covers you can get. This one is nice in that it fits in your fly-more combo bag but it requires me to hold my controller a lot higher to see the phone. I do like how it's magnetic as it's easy to fold into place, and it seems to be made of a decent material, but it is also is a pain to put this in place and then set the iPhone in place. Ultimately I think we're kind of forced to get a smart controller or a tablet as nothing seems to stop my phone from overheating.
