DIRECTIONS: If the surface to be waterproofed is dirty or stained, clean it with Star brite Sail & Canvas Cleaner. Fabric to be treated must be dry. Apply enough Waterproofing with the included sprayer, brush, or sponge to thoroughly wet the top surface. Take care to avoid overspray, drips, or penetration onto surfaces not being treated. Allow the treated item to dry for 6 hours before using. Do not fold or store the treated item until dry. Use only in a well-ventilated area. Not for use on hard, non- porous materials or plastic tarps which cannot absorb liquids.

OK daughters VW bug ragtop needed a coat of sealant. It's hard to find a decent product that isn't a zillion dollars. This product was a great price, and went on easily. There is enough left over to do additional coats in the future. Solid! Painted on two coats (after coat number one dried) and then waited for rain. No leaks! I have a very old 9x14 tent that has seen a lot of use on Cub Scout and Boy Scout trips. After an unfortunate winter camp where the fly and walls ceased to be water resistant, I purchased this product. I set up the tent in the yard, poured the solution into a hand held pump sprayer and applied. It went on easy and and was clear where the solution had soaked into the fabric and where i had missed and could reapply. The gallon was enough for me to fully apply to the whole tent and twice on the rain fly and door. I was pretty heavy handed with it, but I wanted to ensure that I stayed dry. It does have quite a smell, so be sure to use a good mask and eye protection. You don't want to breathe it in or get any on you. Gloves are also recommended. Leave it to air dry and air out as long as you can get away with. I left mine out for 48 hours and could smell the chemicals traces when I used the tent a month later. I did a water test on the tent after it was back up and it repelled the water quite nicely! And the little bit of rain we had on the most recent camping trip shed right off. The chemicals did burn the lawn in the area that I had the tent staked, but it quickly grew, was cut, and turned green so you cannot even see it after a month. If you can use a large tarp under what you're applying it to, or apply over concrete, I would probably advise that. Easy to use, does what it claims. I'm definitely going to purchase this again for some other aging tents, tarps, and covers.

I don’t know what the vehicle is in this compound but smells similar to paint thinner. The smell lingers for days. Water proof; yes for less than a year. UV resistant; yes, for less than a year. Price; is okay for how well it works. I use it a gallon at a time using a pressure sprayer. Have used for a number of years. There are other products that are less and more expensive. A gallon plus to spray the items in photos I attached. Saturating the fabric gives best results.

I used this product to re waterproof my horse blankets. I applied one layer with a small hand sprayer. Now that I know it’s effective I will spray a heavier layer on my other blankets. The only negative I could say was when I was pouring the product into the sprayer even with a funnel it dripped and made a slight mess. My advice is when you fill your sprayer. Make sure to put a paper towel underneath or fill it outside in case it spills.

We went on a 5 day camping trip- in which it was supposed to rain essentially every single day we were there. It was not a total wash out- but we got rain (overnight or sporadically for a couple hours each day) for 4 out of the 5 days. I waterproofed both of our 10'x15' tents TWICE with this waterproofing before leaving. it took me multiple hours of applying and drying twice over... but our tents were BONE dry for the entire 5 day trip! It was so nice to be able to retire at the end of a sloppy slushy day to our tents that were totally dry, thanks to Star Brite. I have used this product in the past with similar results. I also use on our 10x10 pop up tents and this has worked wonders for all sort outdoor sporting events. This product is expensive, but definitely worth the investment cost.

The media could not be loaded. ****Downgraded from 5 star to 3. See update below for the writeup on that. my boat is 16 years old and even though I have only had the boat for a year, based on the condition of the vinyl I can tell that the cockpit cover for it has been used religiously for all 16 of those years. The condition of the canvas had me convinced that I would need to order a new cockpit cover, but I decided to give this product a try to see if I could make the canvas functional again. While it looks old and weathered, it still functions to protect the vinyl from the sun, though very little functionality exists for rain protection. Now with this product I am positive I can stretch a few more years of functionality out of this cockpit cover before having to completely replace it. I took this video this evening since I was working on the boat when a rainstorm came out of nowhere. It is kinda dark, but you can see the water beading up on the canvas since it is under my bimini top and you can see the water just running off the canvas cover. Edit to add info: Coverage - 1 Gallon did my entire Bimini Top, Camper Extension Top, and 90% of the cockpit cover for my 24ft boat. I purchased another gallon since I ran out on the cockpit cover which was the piece that REALLY needed to be done. When I got the next gallon in I redid the entire cockpit cover and also the covers for my bimini top and camper top extension. I REALLY overdid the cockpit cover since it had seen the most sun damage over the course of the boats life. Even though I did 90% of the cockpit cover few days earlier, when the new gallon came in I REALLY saturated it a second time since I had plenty of waterproofing to work with. Before I took the video I assumed that the rain would just roll off as long as the canvas was taught when buttoned up, I was surprised when I got caught in the rain that even without being pulled taught the waterproofing did its job and made the water just roll off completely. I used a standard garden pump sprayer for application and did the bimini top while it was on the bimini top poles, I just set it up in my yard when I did it. The cockpit cover I draped over a couple small step ladders that I have, my garbage bin, and my recycle bin. This allowed me to hang it all out with nothing touching the ground. I started at the top of the step ladders and worked my way down each side so any overage would drip down and soak downwards to the sections that had yet to be done. This method worked well for me both times I did the cockpit cover. I hope all of this info is helpful to someone. New Canvas = hundreds/thousands of dollars Waterproofing = less than 50 per gallon It's a no brainer folks. Oh yeah, for those environmentally minded folks, and those who care WAY too much about how green their grass is, my grass was not affected by the chemicals. *******Edit 12/4/2015***** After surviving the season I have come by to downgrade my review to 3 stars. While I did not experience major issues with my canvas disintegrating like many reviewers mentioned I did notice that all of my seams started having issues. Granted my canvas was made in 2000, but it survived fairly well considering. After a couple times of removing my canvas cockpit cover I noticed that the threads in the seams started coming apart. My canvas is still functional but by the end of next season I will definitely need to get a new cockpit cover and bimini covers. It did a great job at re-waterproofing, but is not friendly on the stitching/seams. If you want to extend the life this will do the trick, but I think you may as well try the sunbrella approved stuff out there for a couple dollars more and hope that it works better on the stitching and doesn't compromise the integrity of the stitches. Again, for functionality 3 stars - compatibility with canvas and stitching that resulted in it deteriorating at a fast rate I had to knock it down a couple stars, but at the end of the day the waterproofing does actually work as advertised.
