  • Efficient and Precise: Staples Arc Desktop Paper Punch with 8-Sheet Capacity in Sleek Gray
I purchased the Staples Arc Desktop Paper Punch and have been extremely impressed with its performance. The 8-sheet capacity is perfect for my needs and it's incredibly easy to use. The punch creates clean and precise holes every time, without any tearing or fraying of the paper edges. The gray color gives it a sleek and modern look that matches my office decor. The compact size of the punch also makes it easy to store when not in use. Overall, I highly recommend the Staples Arc Desktop Paper Punch to anyone in need of a reliable and efficient hole punch for their home or office. ... show more

  • Perfect for the Professional or Heavy Duty Crafter
So, I initially purchased the large pink paper punch made for the Happy Planner. Although it states that you should only punch one paper at a time, I attempted to punch more than one sheet and to be honest it really is not strong enough for the serious planner or arc notebook user. I bit the bullet and purchased this paper punch. Wow, what a difference! I created a planner cover with 80lb card stock and double laminated it with type 5ml thickness lamination sheets and gave this paper punch a try. The hole punching was not only smooth but flawless. I am actually quite surprised to see how easy it was, especially since I am beginning to suffer a bit from carpal tunnel. As for the item, it is sturdy and extremely well made. It is also quite easy to understand and there are glide indicators where you can choose the size of the paper you want to hole punch. The paper punch is quite bulky and looks like a very odd contraption indeed, but does a great job. For me, it was worth the extra money to purchase this item rather than to struggle in punching holes on my project pages. It is quite a time saver. I have uploaded the cover page I hole punched with my new gadget. For the record, I purchased this product on my own. I do not get receive any discount for this item and for the items I purchase. I am a huge Amazon shopper and it's my one stop shop for almost everything. ... show more

  • Works well for multiple sheets
I previously have a Levenger portable punch but can't get more than 2-3 sheets in it, so I decided to get this desktop version, especially since the portable punch would not punch even 1 laminated sheet. This works well, and I got the job done but have to exchange for another one. It has a lock/unlock button to keep the handle down and out of the way when not in use, but it is damaged or something because it is flimsy and won't stay in either position. Then a little piece fell out which I think might be why the lock button doesn't work properly. As far as punching, it is awesome! I easily punched the laminated covers and 398 pages (200 pieces of paper) in about 5 minutes, and another 5 minutes to attach them to the rings. I used it to bind a Bible study paperback book that I wanted to write in, and it was too hard to write in a book that doesn't give. So I took the cover off, used a utility knife to cut the pages off the binding, trimmed with a paper cutter, and punched with this machine and bound on the rings. I ordered 1 1/2" rings but the seller sent the wrong size so I used the 1" rings they sent and it works, but I'm afraid over time the pages will start pulling out. So I'm hoping the seller sends the 1 1/2" rings in good faith and I'll use the 1" rings another time. It is much easier to punch with a machine like this than the portable ones. The handle makes it much easier on the arms and hands. I recommend it to anyone using the ARC system or Levenger system for any project. I also use ARC for my daily planner so I can make my own pages and print accordingly, so this will get put to good use again in the next couple of months. ... show more

  • PUNCHES THICK WATERCOLOR PAPER AND IS STURDY
Pros and Cons: Pros: This puncher is just what I needed to punch 140 lb watercolor paper to make travel and storage journals for my artwork. It makes the kind of holes found on daily planners in which the paper can be easily removed. It uses discs to bind the papers. Since I'm making my own journal covers, it isn't going to be a problem to make a cover that will protect the artwork. The Staples Arc puncher is more expensive on the Staples website than on Amazon! So I bought it and I'm glad I did. I can punch two 140 lb sheets at a time cleanly. It's a snug fit underneath the space between the blades so I don't think I could fit a third sheet in there at the same time. I like to use different kinds of watercolor paper and I cut larger sheets down to a portable size. I allow a margin off to the side or top to be able to punch where the artwork is not affected. If you space the paper right, you can punch a short length or a long length of paper. The puncher is heavy weight and at least I can tell so far, it's well made. The hole size does fit with the no-name 1" discs I bought in bulk on Amazon. The "confetti slide tray is in the front and easy to remove. The side margin setter is well made and easy to set in place. Since I am making journals of various sizes, it allows me to punch up to slightly more than 12 inches on the long side of the paper. This is a plus for me. So for the purposes of making my own thick 140 lb watercolor paper journal notebooks, with the ability to pull the papers out and put them back into the journal, it works for me. And the price was more than $17.++ cheaper than in Staples own store. So far, Amazon has the best price, even beating Walmart's price which was also $16.++ more expensive than Amazon. Cons: The only "complaint" I have, and this is with all specialty punch machines, is that the hole spacings are not consistent among all these type machines. Thus you have to buy the exact type of coils, discs, or wires for each type of punching machine. It's like that will most of the puncher machines out there so this isn't a complaint about this machine specifically. I do a lot of research for my other work and sometimes I download free pdf books for my research. This puncher doesn't seem suited for that because of the way the holes are unique spaced and I would have to bind the book with discs because no coil or wire will work with this machine. So it has its drawbacks. I ended up buying a comb binding machine for the book research also from Amazon. Some reviewers claimed little parts were falling out of their machines. I wondered if some machines were returned to Staples and were refurbished and sold on Amazon. I contacted the seller and told them about my concern. I haven't heard back but the one I got was absolutely new. And it seems well made to me so far. So for me it works. And Amazon has an A-Z guarantee. I don't think I will have to return this unless it falls apart. So far, so good. ... show more
