  • Exact replacement of my original dish
I was looking for an exact replacement of my original Rubbermaid butter dish and this proved to be that. Only the color is different. I've had my old one for over 25 years and I wanted another so if one was in the dishwasher, I could use the other one. The top seemed looser than the original at first, but once I ran it through the dishwasher (top rack), it then snapped on identically and securely. Note that the sticker takes work to remove. The dish is deep enough so that I've never had the butter overflow if left on the counter on a very hot day (I don't have air conditioning). But I've never had natural heat completely melt a stick, just mostly melt. My original is still in working order, though it shows knife damage due to the butter sitting lower than the sides of the dish. The size fits a standard American stick of butter that comes from a pound being divided up into 4 long sticks. It is not the shape of the fat, short kind of sticks. There is a little extra room on the ends, so when the butter gets soft and deforms, it still doesn't get the top dirty. The top for the dish has a flat top, so you can rest a butter knife on top of the closed dish and not have it fall off all the time. But if you have kids kicking the table, that is not going to work for you. I think it is a great butter dish if you don't want anything fancy and plastic doesn't bother you (it says plastic type 4 on the bottom and type 5 on the top). It is quite utilitarian and looks unobtrusive. I'm glad I found this dish. ... show more

  • Cheap, effective, lightweight, durable, and dishwasher safe
I love this thing. My last one melted a little bit in the dishwasher, but I just bought another copy. Haven't had the melting problem again. It's so easy to clean, and doesn't have the extra weight of a cermaric version. I also love the click sound it makes when it snaps into place.

  • Butter dish
Simple butter dish that keeps cube butter fresh

  • Keeps butter fresh & locked in safely!
I owned 2 of these previously in blue for many, many years... I never saw them anywhere else till recently, so that is why I didn't replace mine earlier even though the years were starting to show. These are great everyday butter dishes. They definitely keep the butter fresh and locked in place... put the cover on and even if it falls, the butter is safely locked in. I only give it a 4 since it's not the prettiest thing to look at and color choice is like very limited. This time the only color available was red, which for some of us may not match well with our dinnerware at the table. But other than color, can't go wrong with this product and it will last very, very long. My last ones from Rubbermaid were about 20 years old. ... show more

  • Perfect!
Just what I was looking for I love how lid snaps into place easily so if you reach to pickup the item the lid doesn't separate from the bottom. This is handy if you don’t want soften butter on lid. If you do happen to get butter on lid it is easy to clean. A clear lid allows you to glance at butter dish and determine if it needs a fresh stick soon. It's dishwasher safe, but I recommend using something to cut grease beforehand and wash on top rack of dishwasher. Super happy with my purchase ☺️ ... show more

  • Perfect for travel campIng
Using in a travel camper. We like that it stays snapped shut and fits in the butter bin. Not flimsy, it’s got a nice look when in use. We have the red one. It’s a nice deep true red, not a garish bright red.

  • Eh, ok I guess
I dropped my glass butter tray and while it would have survived the fall on a carpeted floor it did not survive the two halves striking each other. What a mess picking out glass shards and butter from carpet. Growing up my parents had a Rubbermaid plastic butter tray and I thought it would be great to get one as I always liked it. It always sealed up well so I didn't have to worry about bugs or dust getting in my butter. Plus it's plastic so it won't break when dropped and the lid snaps on so even the butter would be contained. Unfortunately this is not like the ones they used to make. It's one step up from a single use plastic container, much more flimsy than they used to be. It doesn't really snap together like the old one did. This one kind of lightly snaps together but it's not staying together in a fall or going to be well sealed. As a matter of fact, the base is actually warped in a U shape so it never seals up right and rocks on the table. Now most people will be fine with all this because they don't know any better and it basically works but as someone who had an older one which was of significantly better quality it's just another depressing example of how poorly things are made today. Would it really have killed Rubbermaid to put like 3 more plastic pellets in the mold when they were making this? Considering it's made in China from plastic and costs nearly as much as a glass or porcelain butter tray you wouldn't think that would be too much to ask for. ... show more
