This was very easy to put together. You just attach the legs and then attach them to your desk. It has a metal bar on the underside that provides extra support. I wish I knew about the bar beforehand because some of my stuff does not fit underneath the space now but it still works out ok. Where the bar is, you get 2.75 inches of space. The rest of the space is about 3.5 inches high. Even though the bar is there, this has provided so much more space on my desk. I am annoyed that I didn't buy it before now. ... show more

Earlier this year I upgraded my home office desk to one that offered more shelves for storage. At the same time though, I sacrificed actual desktop space because it's shallower than my old one. In addition to that, I had a triple monitor stand that clamped to the desk. Since the new desktop was shallower, that meant the monitors were that much closer to me, and it wasn't very comfortable to work. I removed the monitor stand and went back to the original stands, but now the monitors sat too low. I tried one of those 3 pieces shelves found here, but not only where they really poor quality and didn't fit together well, but they were only 3" tall and did not provide any additional desktop space. Then along came the Stand Steady 55" Clamp On Desk. It is EXACTLY what I was looking for! It moved the monitors up to the perfect height and really gave me back some much needed space! If I had one complaint, it's the mounting clamps. Specifically, the "cup" size. Instead of being a round cup, it's rectangular and is longer than the clamp is deep. That means you're limited to how it can be rotated as it actually hits the frame of the clamp. In my case, due to the framing of my desk, that prevented me from moving the shelf all the way over to the right by about an inch or so. That's not the end of the world, but it would have been nice to have the shelf pushed up flush against the rest of my desk. ... show more

It really adds up alot of space on my desk. Mine is L shaped and it lifts up and down. The 48 inch is perfect. Glad i made the purchase! It will come in handy when my other monitor comes in. WFH purchase.
