After reading some negative reviews, I was worried there would be a smell to this beeswax, but there wasn't. The only thing I can detect when I open the bag is a normal beeswax smell---sort of a light floral scent really. I used these pellets to make lotion bars, and they melted easily in a double boiler. Expectations were minor; I bought this to make sand candles with the kids, not a body product. It smelled so BAD the kids went outside on the patio. Like burned gasoline. All I did is put it on low on the stove until it was liquid. It was in a package exactly like the picture, with the brand name (some company out of Michigan). Manufacturer needs to deal with this issue, or improve QC, or change their description to "will smell so much like burned gasoline your kids run away from the craft screaming", or at least tell us that's what it should smell like. Beeswax pellets arrived and the label clearly said white pellets, top grade. But the pellets were actually yellow and had a stronger odor than what normally get on Amazon. I tried to melt a batch of it anyway for a product that it doesn't really mater if the beeswax is white or not, but after melting I discovered that this product was dry and flaked and rolled off the skin instead of coating it like cosmetic grade beeswax should. Very disappointed and returning it. I'm sharing pictures, one shows the color of this product compared to my previous order of white beeswax. The other photo you will see the wax peeling off my finger after I stuck my finger in the melted wax. It couldn't coat like it was suppose to. Very poor product, buyer beware ... show more

My hobby is woodworking and I'm currently making cutting boards and cheese boards from exotic and domestic woods. I had been finishing the boards with food grade mineral oil but decided to add bees wax to the oil to make a spoon butter. I wanted a white bees wax to avoid yellowing in the finish. The Stakish product worked well. It melted into the oil easily and cooled to a soft, white paste consistency. Several coats over several days leaves a very smooth to the touch finish, protects the wood and buffs to a satin sheen. When I give the boards to family or friends I also give a container of the finish along with info on how and how often to apply it to maintain the wood. With a little care these boards should last for decades. Other reviews have mentioned the odor. In paste form there is some odor but I didn't find it objectionable. After applying the finish, waiting for it to be absorbed into the wood then buffing with a shop towel, I wasn't able to detect any odor. I would recommend this wax and will reorder it after I use up this batch. ... show more

    • Not Pure Beeswax—Paraffin! BEWARE!

This is NOT 100% pure beeswax. It melts like paraffin and does not spread easily when used in making body salves. I use beeswax all the time and it has NEVER turned out like this. You cannot even spread it into your skin. Horrible! False advertising.

I always read product reviews before purchase and everything was looking pretty good. Well, maybe my order is just "that one" because I am not impressed with this at all. The pellets melt well and all, but hello horribly wretched, foul burning rubber, chemical smell. The stench overpowered any of the precious essential oil I used and I feel like everything was a waste! Its unusable. I even removed the pellets into a mesh basket where they could air out of the packaging for a while. One week later and they're as stink stank as the day I opened them. P.U. I should’ve read the reviews before purchasing. As others have mentioned, this wax smells horrible. I bought it to make candles - and even after adding the essential oils, all I could smell was the wax itself. Not sure if it was just my order - or if beeswax has a weird smell in general - however I will not be purchasing this again. And I do not recommend it for candle making. ... show more
