I got this for food processing as I need to keep the water oxygenated, and I wanted to be confident that the process uses food-safe materials. It fit the NPT fitting without difficulty (purchased separately). I first tried testing it with a small aquarium pump - it did not create sufficient pressure to create bubbles. But when I used a larger pump, there was an eruption of bubbles. This thing works great. The holes are too small to see. Since it is made of stainless steel construction, I expect it to be very durable. There should not be any problem sterilizing it (boiling) or cleaning it. It would be nice if it came with care instructions, though. It seems a bit pricey for the size of the piece, but given that I expect it to do the job for years, the price seems fine.

The media could not be loaded. I just started resuming an old but long hobby of homebrewing beer. As part of that I have upscaled my setup with an electric RIM system. I know that yeast plays a huge role in the characteristics of the beer. The type of yeast, how much you start with and the health play a big role. I have always made yeast starters - but often just “splashed” the wort into the fermentation vessel in the hopes of giving the yeast cells good oxygen. I have long wanted to upgrade that area as well. I saw the HOMHOK Stainless Steel Carbonation Stone and thought it would be perfect. It was large, allowed different fittings for air/oxygen input and looked like good quality. When the product arrived - wow, it’s heavy duty and well made! I wanted to give it a quick test run to see how the bubble looked. I placed it in a mason jar and attached a pump. Immediately it started to produce a big stream of fine to medium bubbles and my pump didn’t break a sweat! With the large size I can likely run it for only 5-10 minutes before I pitch my yeast! Im sure the wort will have plenty of oxygen to keep the yeast growing well and quickly. Being all stainless steel it’s easy to sanitize. Boil it for 5 mins and it’s clean and ready to go. Since the stone is so long and large diameter, I can quickly bring up the O2 level. I would think it would also be great for forced carbonation with C02! Overall - very happy with the stone and looking forward to some great beer :-)

This is a very large diffusion stone. I was planning on replacing a tiny one that I have in my 1BBL home brewery. This wound up being larger than I had envisioned (totally my fault there, of course!) so I have also ordered the 4" version. It puts out a lot of O2 even when the regulator is cranked down. My only concern is that the bubbles are quite a bit larger than my old small stone. I'm sure there are zillions of microscopic ones being formed as well but I do think there's going to be more O2 that just rises right up to the top of the fermentation tank without contributing to absorption.

This is a nicely made stainless diffusion stone with a tri-clamp base and 1/4” female NPT threading. Machining quality is good — clean edges, consistent surface finish, and the threads are true to size. There are no visible welds, seams, or irregularities. The stone itself has a uniform porous texture and appears securely attached to the base. I plan to use this for kombucha production — first for oxygenating the tea and later for forced carbonation. It should be easy to clean and sanitize between uses. Packaging was minimal, just a plain box, and no documentation was included. None is really needed for this type of component, but a brief note on pore size or material spec would have been helpful. Overall, it’s exactly what I expected — a simple, functional stainless part with good machining accuracy. Verdict: 5/5 — well-made, true-to-spec, and appropriate for brewing or general gas diffusion use.

This is a high quality stainless steel diffusion stone. As far as I can see there are no plastic parts. Everything is stainless steel. It is easy to use as everything fit perfectly to specification. I have been using this with RO filtered water for the last two months and have had no problems with clogs or reduced performance. It is as good as new with no special care.

This is a well made diffusion stone that is an absolute requirement for diffusing CO2 in your brite tank or O2 in your fermenter. The sanitary fitting is machined cleanly with no burrs, pits or surface abnormalities. On the 1/4 female NPT end, I was able to attach a ball lock post fitting that had a 1/4" MPT fitting. This was easy to install on the 1.5" TC ports on my brite tank and with a silicone seal, was able to charge up to 15psi without any leaks. Overall, I have not had any issues with it during the past month of use. Diffusion stones can be challenging if you are not experienced using them. They are essentially a sponge made of stainless steel and all of them are prone to clogging without proper maintenance. Giving them a boil in a sodium percabonate solution such as PBW and then blowing air or CO2 through them is a great way to restore their performance. This stainless diffusion stone functions quite well but I will note that its largely comparable to many others that I have used. Diffusion stones can be quite expensive and I think options like this offer great value.
