    • Nice little trumpet with a few glitches
I purchased the pocket trumpet because I was traveling overseas and did not want to deal with my regular trumpet being bumped around the cargo hold. This pocket trumpet is the perfect size for traveling (about the size of a shoebox). It's heavy but it fits into a checked bag or a carry on with relative ease. I was surprised and pleased to find that is has a lot of sound for such a compact horn. As others noted the valves did begin to stick after a few uses and I struggled to get them to respond well despite a solid dosing with some valve oil. I also felt that the upper and lower registers were a bit out--although that could just be the way I play. However, it was a great little horn for getting some practice in while traveling (fits a regular trumpet mute easily if you need to practice in hotels) without breaking the bank or ending up fighting with an airline about damages. ... show more

    • Real nice sound.
It has been around 50 years since I played a Trumpet. I am 73 and looking for an quality instrument to get back . I ordered this one according to the specifications featuring Stainless Steel valves. I wanted a Pocket Trumpet and wanted a Brass instrument with clear finish. This instrument arrived from the Retailer in the estimated delivery time. Packaging was good. The Trumpet came in a Hard Case, Felt Lined......Very good so far. The instrument is manufactured in a very heavy gage brass, with a beautiful Clear finish. The Stainless valves functioned nice and crisply. (I oil my valves about every other day. I never had a sticky valve. The Trumpet included 4 slides that operated smoothly after greasing. I grease my slides about every 7 to 10 days. After getting my lip back, I am producing a nice clean mellow sound. Kind of like my old Coronet did in High School. All in all, I do not regret spending the extra money to get a quality instrument that I can play without problems. Very Satisfied....................Hope this helps..................Jim ... show more

    • Great blast for the buck
I'm just now getting back into horn playing after playing years ago (MANY years ago) in high school and needed a trumpet that was not too expensive and yet not cheaply made, and with the Stagg WS pocket trumpet, I know that I've made the right choice. No, it doesn't quite match the silvered Bach Stradivarius trumpet that I remember from high school, but that was a much more expensive instrument and for the money, this one delivers. The notes sound crisp and clear, the playability is excellent, and the build quality is superb. It just feels and sounds right. I recommend this instrument highly. ... show more

    • Pleasant surprise!
OK, so this is not an expensive horn. In this case you get MORE than you pay for. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this horn. It is only a practice horn for me but I wanted a horn that at least had decent intonation. I pulled out 3rd slide about 3/4 inch and she played beautiful! This is an excellent horn for beginner or as practice horn and frankly could be taken on a gig with no issues. Came on time and packed very well. I am well pleased with this purchase. ... show more

Bought this trumpet for my son, he's actually a Sousaphone player, and he loves it. He wanted to learn to play another instrument and this was the perfect way to introduce one without paying a fortune. This item arrived in tack. I was actually surprised at the quality of it. Beautiful little piece. Simple. Well engineered. It has excellent sound and playability. I was blown away. Really! Just out of the box? It's more then you expected really. It made me happy I bought it.

This horn feels and sounds great and as you can see via the picture much more compact. I'm a casual player and it is now probably going to be my main horn for the shear convenience and tone that is produces.

    • Wonderful sound for a mid-priced pocket trumpet!
This pocket trumpet is adorable and it sounds terrific. My grandson loves it and sometimes uses it in place of his traditional-sized trumpet. A pocket trumpet was on his Christmas list and in choosing this one, I done good!
