Sturdy, easy to fill, holds a lot of seed, allows multiple birds to feed simultaneously, has kept the squirrels out so far. After multiple tries and some comical gymnastics, the squirrels gave up.

    • Keeps the Squirrels Out!
This feeder works great for keeping out squirrels. We have had several try and finally give up. It is a very sturdy metal design and looks good in the garden. The birds love it. The cable that it hangs on is a little too long if you are using a Shepard's hook. It makes it too close to the ground and has to be looped on the hook several times. The 4 Purch's the birds sit are also bigger than usual which allows the bigger birds to sit on them if you don't mind the blackbirds. It would be nice if the feeding holes had something inside to deflect the seeds from coming out when you fill it or birds eating. Not a lot of seeds spill out but enough to attract the squirrels and chipmunks on the ground. Overall great feeder. Would buy it again. ... show more

    • Really Works!!
I have used many different squirrel proof bird feeders, and this one is one of my favorites. It even keeps the chipmunks off. And an added bonus... when refilling in subzero temps, it opens very easily and done in less than a minute without even taking it off the feeder pole.

    • Good capacity and effective
The design of this feeder is effective in excluding squirrels, and I like the larger capacity. It's an attractive hunter green, and seems well made; the perches stay folded firmly down or up (if you bring it in at night). The outer metal grid is quite large, though: I've another feeder of this design with a crosshatched outer mesh. The finer grid provides more perches for "on-deck" birds awaiting a turn at a port, which I prefer. Birds immediately took to this feeder. It's excellent with sunflower chips -- hulled pieces of seed -- which are pricey but save mess and give birds a lot of energy for relatively little work. It'll stay in year 'round rotation as one of several feeding stations in my yard. ... show more

It's cute and keeps off the bigger birds and squirrels but allows moisture in to the seed so it clumps and molds, therefore no creature eats it. When I clean it out and refill it works for awhile but water gets in every time it rains. Waste of money in my climate. Perhaps if you live somewhere dry or it is undercover. Would gladly give you mine so it doesn't end up in the dump, but I'm not cleaning it again, ugh. (Have had it 9 months) ... show more

There are plenty of feeders which claim to be squirrel-proof, but this is only one of two that I have ever had that actually works. It has a long metal hanging cord, and the entire unit drops if a squirrel tries to hang from it. Our squirrels have mercilessly raided other feeders I’ve had, but they aren’t even trying with this one. Birds are very enthusiastic about it. ... show more

    • Keeps seed dry.
The feeder I replaced allowed the seeds to get wet and clumpy, causing plugged up access to the feed. The wetness caused the seeds to sprout inside the feeder. This new feeder keeps the seed dry, plus the squirrels can't get into it.

Great product birds love the feeder and keeps the squirrels from getting all the bird food, we will see what happens in the summer time if the bird feeder is still a good quality feeder
