This is a great feeder and it looks really cute hanging up. It's not the best at discouraging squirrels or maybe I have just had bird feeders up so long my squirrels went to break-in school.

So clever and sturdy. The perch pulls forward a cover that extends over the openings to prevent rodents from getting to the seeds. There is a row of - or grid with openings where birds can grab the seeds with their beak. It is sort of recessed and that offers second protection so that little paws and claws can’t get to the seeds. The top of the feeder extends far enough to protect from rain. So far chicjadees and juncos have used the feeder - I have noticed a few red winged black birds too. Larger birds are not as inclined though I wish the steller’s jays would figure it out. I don’t think they are too heavy. The other good thing is it is metal and squirrels can’t bite through as they have done on other feeders designed to keep rodents out but made of plastic.

I was hoping for a squirrel proof feeder and did not get one! i have never spent so much on a birdfeeder but was fed up with the squirrels eating all of my seed. i only got one ring on my feeder to hold the lid down-which i realized after i threw the packaging away... it didn't matter because the squirrel pushed the lid up on the ring side anyway! I had strapped the other side down with wire to make sure they couldn't get in that way. I am soooooooo disappointed. Although this is not a huge expense it is much more than i wanted to spend. I have had the feeder up two weeks in our new home. It is well made. A handsome feeder. It will look good for years. It is has not attracted many birds but it may be I am use to country bird activity and city birds just aren’t showing up. The weight adjustment to shut off larger birds/squirrels from the feeder is a wound wire gauge that is finicky to adjust. I am concerned that the wire will not withstand Colorado winters and stay flexible. The birds seem to be uncomfortable with the feeding bar distance from the feeder and it adjusting to their weight. I think this feeder is really only suitable for smaller birds. (Jury is still out.) It looks so nice and won’t trigger the HOA ‘Inspector’ objections as it is charming. I believe the trick is to buy small seed, (or dried worms) for this feeder for your smaller birds. The doves can’t wiggle in to the ledge offered to get their preferred seed.

Bought this in October, the metal sides detached and I don’t see screws so it appears it was glued. No longer can return. Such a waste of money. A metal bird feeder over $30 should last more than 4 months

The squirrels at my feeders were relentless. I tried everything from baffles and slinky's to hot pepper.but nothing would keep them out. After putting this feeder up, they still tried but with no success. They have finally given up trying. It's a very attractive feeder and holds a fair amount of sunflower seed. The perching area is big enough for Cardinals and similar sized birds. In the long run, this will pay for itself as I'm not losing all my sunflower seeds to the squirrels. I'm very happy with this feeder
