  • Great little guitar
Because of some hand and shoulder issues, I've been swapping my standard sized guitars for 3/4 sized ones. The Jazzmaster is my latest buy for this collection. It's well made. The tuners actually hold a tune well. It's a very comfortable size, and the short scale neck is perfect for my small hands. The humbucker pickups sounds pretty good, though I will probably upgrade all the electronics eventually for a higher quality set. Really the only thing that needs to be replaced are the strings. They are way too light a gauge for this short scale neck. You can bend the strings out of tune by just breathing on them. I will be installing a set of 11's soon. I love the daphne blue color of the body, too. At present the guitar is torn apart while I get ready to apply a stain and finish to the neck. There is no finish on the neck, and I would like to see one on there. Overall this is a great little guitar. Last year I purchased the Squire Mini Strat and also did a complete upgrade to the electronics. It also is a perfect 3/4 sized guitar for me. ... show more

  • Good pratice guitar.
I keep this guitar in a stand near my desk as having it near makes me more likely to practice regularly. Something I wouldn't do with my more expensive guitars. The guitar arrived in good shape double boxed and had no signs of damage. With a little minor setup, (Vdeos available on YouTube) , this guitar is much better than the guitars I learned to play on some 50 years ago and would be suitable to introduce a young player to learning guitar. It's a little more challenging for a person with large hands to play but is doable. Stratocaster and Jazzmaster are not my first choice for body style so Fender/Squire if you're listening and want me to purchase another mini guitar, make a mini Telecaster. I do recommend this guitar for a child to learn on or an adult to keep nearby to promote regular practicing. ... show more

  • Great little guitar
I bought this for my son (who is currently not old enough to play it at 7 months old). Got it in the mail today tweaked the setup a little and gave it a go and it sounds and plays great. I wouldn't say its Daphne blue but closer to a powder blue but still looks good. He will hopefully love it when he gets older. ... show more

  • Not a great guitar.
It sounds like a toy guitar. For $175 dollars you can get a much better guitar. Go to a local shop and try other guitars (possibly used) that would be appropriate for kids or smaller people. It just doesn't sound good.

  • A lovely little guitar that I will modify
I love the weight and feel of this guitar. Personally I am switching out much of the hardware so I didn’t try it yet but the neck and body is good.

  • NICE FOR YOUNG OR OLDER TRAVELER
I got this for when my back might hurt or when my hands feel tired. I sanded the back of the neck with 1000 grit paper and added a little oil. The frets were not sharp, and the neck nut needed some careful filing to accommodate the larger 12-gauge strings I put on it. I also got a Mini Jazz in Surf green that has 11-gauge strings on. Looser than when they are on my full-sized guitars. Also, I replaced the 3rd and 6th screws on the bridge with shorter ones to intonate the best without pinching those strings, as the saddles always go back the furthest on those strings, on all standard tuned guitars. The pickups are warm sounding. Not the clearest or brightest though. This guitar is Modifiable in my opinion. Make it yours! ... show more

  • Hit and miss guitar!
Did not buy this guitar on Amazon, their were no Daphne Blue ones available at the time. Bought one from another supplier, took it out of the box and it looked really good. Upon examination, noticed very high frets but the neck was straight. File marks on the side of the neck by numerous frets. Two Screws were stripped on the bridge and pickguard, used toothpicks and tightened them up. After checking and securing all the hardware the rest of the guitar looked great, no dents or scratches. Plugged it into the amp, everything seemed to be working great. Tried to tune it, no luck. Stretched the strings and tried to retune, no luck. Repeated this process about 4 times with no luck, one strum and it went out of tune. Changed strings over to some 10's...same thing? Currently in the process of returning it. After reading and talking to several other musicians, the Jazzmaster Mini is a hit and miss guitar purchase. Most put new tuners and strings on, and sometimes it works. Because of the playability, some go all out and change out everything. I'm told that after some fret work and changing out all the hardware, bridge, strings, pots and pickups, it's a very fun guitar to play! My opinion is the neck and body are great if your looking for a short scale good looking axe. At the least, you probably will end up putting new strings,10's 0r 11s on. And Changing out the tuners. If you cannot set a guitar up properly like myself, find someone who can! I could see this as a perfect little short scale guitar for kids and adults, if you want to throw some extra cash at it. Or you might get lucky and get a decent one right out of the box! ... show more
